Someone get me out of here I keep getting wrecked. I thought I am supposed to play with others also learning the different abilities of different characters. And why is there an MMR if anyone can play normal games.

Lower levels it'll more often be mismatched because of smurfing and a lower player pool (matchmaking will have to widen its search to less appropriate players). However, it's still better than no MMR; it's there so it at least tries to get you with players around your skill level. This will be better at level 30 I assure you.

If PvP is not quite your thing yet, I do recommend playing Co-op vs. AI; while you won't get a highly competitive experience, you can still use it to learn how to build and play your champions. I myself farmed vs. AI to level to 30, and continued afterwards to learn about what every champ was capable of as I earned IP to buy them and buy Runes/Pages to prepare for Ranked play (Rune system is going away in the preseason, though).

I'm bronze 1 in ranked but I'm consistently playing golds in norms. It makes sense though, I don't have the dedication to try to climb up the ranked ladder and deal with the morons in my ranked MMR.

Are you smurfing? The system probably figured it out and boosted your MMR. haha no escape.

If you're actually new, consider this a blessing. You can learn better by being tossed in the deep end. Ask your teammates for advice. Pay attention to what players do. You might actually become a plat or diamond player. If life gives you lemons make lemonade.

Imagine if all you got to experience was bronze level play. You'd never improve.

one learns by getting killed over and over until you figure out WHY that is so. Until then, you keep losing.
