Just look....I was Gold 5 last season. I didn't tank my MMR at all at the end of the season.
I went 5W/5L in promos and I got dropped to Silver 5.......WTF?

Same here. Went from Gold 3 to Silver 3 when i went 3/7 with teams that aren't the best around. It's completely messed up, beings that I got placed into Silver 2 last season when I wasn't even in gold at the time. I went 4/6 then. -_-
Silver V to Bronze III after going 7/3 in placements, and carrying most of those games.
I'm so frustrated. I tried so hard. I practiced, I asked for advice, I seriously focused on my placements and actually did really well. But nope, here I am, back in bronze, where I haven't been since the first week of season 4. Was placed in B1 the last time and was out of there in no time, then spent the season traveling between Silver V and II. Yet for some ridiculous reason, I got placed in the middle of bronze. This is completely ridiculous. Soft reset or not, this was completely and entirely unfair, and I would love to have an explanation from Riot on exactly how they place people, because at this point, it looks like it's completely and utterly randomized.
The only thing broken is them not demoting you before, checking your MMR history I can see that it actually hasn't even moved since pre-promos, since you're 5-5 that's pretty much expected.
No, the extremely vocal minority are. Everyone else is on average landing higher at 10-0 most those people I listed were also silver last season. The gold one was probably carried to g5 for rewards.
