Daily Reminder that ARAM is full of bots and will now bother us lv30s more than ever

Yesterday i played 2 ARAM games with my gf that isn't lv 30 yet. I am fairly certain that we played with and against bots in both games, looking at their behaviour, pathing and usage of abilities as well as not writing anything in the chat, after is tried to speak with them several times.

So it came to my attention again what a horrible experience ARAM is for people below lv30. And with the new leveling system, the bots will probably be sent into lv30+ games as well, reducing the fun for the people playing with and against them.

So Riot should maybe try to improve their filters and lock out more bots, or at least put the bot accounts in seperate games until they reach lv30 and then ban them, idk.

What are your thoughts on this?

Just played what, 4 hours of League on ARAM? Started off the games steamrolling the enemy team because bots would come to us and feed us like no tomorrow. Won 3 in a row ultra quickly, then lost one, won, then lost 6 in a row. Bots in EVERY GAME. Any game that I won the enemy team had bots. Games we lost except one had bots on our team. There was a game I did bad in because I can't figure out how to play this jungle cat lady properly.

Every game I've reported them. Every time, I ask others to do so and they just shrug it off or leave immediately. Nobody in my games helps resolve the issue with reporting. I remember reading somewhere that if you make false reports, you can actually get in trouble. At this point, I feel my account might be in danger because of all the botting and nothing is being done about it. We can report all we want, but it doesn't do anything if the issue isn't being fixed.

If Riot could have some sort of PR manager or something post that they're aware of this ongoing issue, then it would make me feel a little better and more inclined to report. At this point, I'm at the "why bother" stage because there's no feedback on reporting. There's no confirmation anything is working. There's nothing.

Edit: Ironic that my page shows Wukong quoting "Every mistake is a lesson." Maybe it's a mistake to even care anymore so long as Riot is making money on the new event going on. One customer leaves, two more come in. We're all numbers, regardless of how much we pay them.

ARAM dosen't get the attention it should have from Riot and this is just a minor problem amongst other ones. This issue is already annoying enought, so Riot should fix this before even more threats appears

I have played 20+ games of ARAM and I am level 35 going on 36. There are around 2 bots every game. The blue essence changes have only encouraged bots to continue existing at level 30.

3v3 map is also full of bots.

So you are saying you played with someone who never plays ARAM and therefor has entry level tier MMR and are somehow shocked that the system matched you with that same MMR. And that those turned out to be bots?

I think that at any time there are more sub 30 bots playing ARAM than actual people at that MMR. Because people grow out of it pretty fast, but bots are unlikely too. As they are a detriment to the team.

This is mostly irrelevant, but your post was right beneath a "Fax your Senators" post about Net Neutrality, and at first I misread your title as "Fax your Senators that ARAM is full of bots"

Bots are probably never going to go away, no matter how hard Rito tries. Better to have them swarm the non-rift game modes than ruin the main experience for low level players.

The demand for level 30 accounts never ceases, so botters will keep botting regardless of Rito's efforts.

Also, they'll never spill into level 30+ games. Reason: Bots are susceptible to being banned, especially in post-30 games where people actually hit the report button. Botters run the risk of losing their bot accounts so ofc they'll stop them once they hit 30 so they can be sold.

The joke is on us, literally. They sit there and chuckle it up to how much they can piss people off. If I wanted to waste 15-20 mins of time then I would just start a game vs bots. I would rather sit an extra 2-3 mins in que and play with people than a bot that literally stacks one of the teams with kills. Bot is worse than a afk. at least an afk doesn't feed all game going 1-15 usually from what ive seen. Open a separate que with no bots for people that want fun and a little challenge. Bots have 0 place in any match made game. You have a WHOLE section to play with bots if the player chooses. I don't.

The botting problem is something Riot just isn't interested in ever fixing because actually fixing the problem for good is a threat to Riot's bottom line.

It's sad (and completely unacceptable) but the best we can hope for are players reporting bot accounts and hope they get banned. It sucks.

It's not just ARAM thats effected by this but also vs AI games are regularly ruined, even after having played 1000+ games vs AI I still see botting very often, which makes it hard to enjoy those games especially when playing support.

Please fix this, riot. Just played 3 games of ARAM with 3 bots on enemy team, then 2 on my team, then 1 on my team. This is unacceptable. Make it known that reporting bots works so people do it more often.

Just last aram game I played Kog Maw and got 4 bots on my team, and the enemy had 2 bots as well.

Semune11/23/2017, 8:13:56 PM2 votes

There is ELO in ARAM.

I doubt bots get above even like ~1500. At 2k+ I've never seen a bot.

Thefrostyviking11/23/2017, 8:42:06 PM2 votes

I have seen like 1 bot in the last two months O_O

But then again, i play like 4-6 aram game's a week tops.

Finally. Every other queue but 5v5 SR and past-30 ARAM has been filled with bots for the year and a half I've been playing this game. I've come to the conclusion Riot wants bots boosting their player counts, but this slightly boosts my faint hope it will become noticeable to veteran players.

They removed Dominion because of the bots. Guess it's time to remove ARAM as well because that'll fix the problem! [slayer-jinx-wink]

MangelinaJolie11/23/2017, 7:50:31 PM1 votes

As your ARAM MMR rises you will stop seeing them. I haven’t seen a single one in at least three years of consistent playing if not more.

junglerboy1611/23/2017, 2:43:02 PM1 votes

I have just about 1000 ARAMS on my main account and using the ranker tool someone on boards set up a few months ago I'm analogous to gold/low plat for ARAM. We don't have any issues with bots at this MMR.

I don't think the issue is intrinsically ARAM, I think it's just the infestation of low level (and pre 30 games especially) with bots. Although removing the level cap will definitely make it easier for bots to start showing up in higher matchmade ranks.

Here is a really crazy idea, implement a Captcha check to queue for your game. Instant, elegant, solution. Will it be implemented? Doesn't stand a chance.

Bots shouldn't be bothering you unless your aram mmr is as low as the bots...
