How do we make the game better?
Honest question. Is there a single person here having fun anymore?
Losing feels 4x as bad as winning feels good. You can go on an 11 win streak and then lose 1 game and not want to play for the rest of the day. I cannot even fathom how to have fun with this game anymore.
You get into a game and it's almost always 2 scenarios. You lose in a landslide or you win in a landslide, winning because the other team is trolling isn't fun and losing because someone on your team is inting and trolling feels devastating and you just want to stop playing.
You have to seriously ask yourself Riot, why are all the popular league streamers abandoning the game? Why do Esports players rarely stream anymore? (Because they're too busy scrimming 12 hours a day to try and adapt to the meta you force to change every patch because you can't decide on a single damned thing)
The game's popularity on twitch is tanking, you have almost every full time league streamer saying the same thing; The game sucks.
We don't need reworks, we don't need flashy new champions that push the boundaries of the games engine or invent new playstyles. We need you to seriously balance the game and fix the problem that's rotting it from the inside out.
Stop changing the meta every patch, start balancing instead of just nuking champions into uselessness because they're a little over tuned, start implementing measures to make ranked games less coin toss and soul crushing.
I get it, there's tons of threads that pop up saying "The game sucks!!@!!" and yes, they are right, the game absolutely sucks. I have been playing since Season 2 and if I hadn't sunk at least a grand into this game since then I would have stopped playing, but the truth is I deep down still like this game but I know I can't keep playing it much longer when I get done with ranked games where my bot lane is 0/21 at 16 minutes and I know for a FACT they are going to que up and continue to ruin more games for more people.
So let's try to actually improve the game with ideas that could actually make the game better. I'll start.
Firstly, please put an emphasis on the difference between ranked and normals. Too often you see people first timing random champions they have never even touch in a ranked game, going 0/10 and then if you're lucky they just afk, but they often just int and troll afterwards. This happens WAY too often, and the fact of the matter is these players hold more influence over the game than everyone else trying to win.
I propose a system that rewards players for playing champions in ranked that they know how to play, IE - You get rewarded for picking your Mastery 7 mid laner who you have a 60% win rate with over first timing brand and going 0/10. Maybe they get extra blue essence, or an extra lp boost of 1-3 depending on how many mastery points they have on that champion, or extra honor. Just something that makes people actually want to play what they're good at, and not what they're bored and think might be fun. It would not only make ranked less of a coin toss, but bring back a sense of hard fought games, in the fact that everyone is playing their best champion and trying. Nobody likes winning because the other team has a hard inting player or lane ruining it for them, and when its your team that has the hard inting first timing draven you just want to stop playing entirely for the day.
On the contrary, if you pick champions you've never played before you should at least be notified that normals exists for that reason through some kind of end-game notification, and that by picking champions you have zero experience playing (IE you have almost zero mastery points on) you are making the game worse for people who play ranked to try and win. Normals exists for a reason, I really think there should be a bigger influence and reminder of this, anything to help stem the flow of people who first time in ranked and ruin it for others actually trying hard to climb.
Secondly, can we please, pleaseeee for the love of god adopt a system like Dota has, where if someone is afk or leaves the game everyone can just quit with maybe a reduced penalty. Too often you get a duo bot lane, or just two extremely toxic players who feed, then one of them afks and the other just locks you into the game until 20 minutes. It's a complete waste of time for everyone actually trying to play and it doesn't negatively impact anyone anymore than losing a game normally because of someone going afk. It is so soul crushing and demoralizing to be in a game that has gone catastrophically wrong but forced to stay in it until you either lose or reach 20 minutes and can ff. The ff at 15 minutes was a step in the right direction, but it simply isn't enough. This wouldn't be a hard system to employ; someone goes afk for a set amount of time, all players on their team are able to leave the game. It A: Stops wasting everyones time, and B: Is millions of times less tilting and stressful than being locked into a game you have zero chance of winning.
Now if there should be some kind of avoidance of loss from someone going afk, I won't comment, I don't balance games for a living, but just doing the two above things I honestly think would improve ranked by a significant margin.
The game isn't fun, nobody is having fun, nobody I know is having fun. We like the reworks, and new champions, and new art and lore, but we'd like it more if you actually just took the time to try and fix the game with us.
