I feel like one of the ways to carry as a support was nerfed with the limit of wards placed. I think there are two great ways to fix this. 1. Last point in utility should be being able to place an additional ward. Also Blue Sightstone into Red Sightstone feel weak. I think making Ruby allow you to place an additional ward would help very much as well. I feel like these would help carrying as as a support. I mean no one takes the full 21 in utility and when they do hy dont take the last one. And upgrading to ruby is something you do last. Changing this would change that.

The ward limit is there to protect supports against themselves. It means you don't have to use all your gold to buy wards.

Ironically, the last point in the utility tree actually greatly helps you with vision. 5% extra movement speed means you can get wards in the right places quicker. Where you place your wards is way more important than how many you place. 21 points in utility is definitely worth a try :)

I mained support back when you could place as many wards as possible and I thoroughly enjoyed supporting my team by having lots of wards all over the map. I feel limited only being able to have 3 greens and a pink. I completely understand only one pink per player and I believe that was a good change. I just feel like supports should be able to contribute more to vision than the rest of the team (aside from junglers). Also i would like to say this is from my solo experiences and that I dont have much knowledge of competitive aside from what ive seen in the LCS.

Supports already contribute more to vision than the rest of the team. My experience is also from solo queue, and there the support is always the one with the most wards placed. If you want even more vision, you could try this:

Buy Twin shadows
Use the blue trinket
Get movement speed so you are a better human ward
Help your teammates get the scuttle crab
Get the clairvoyance summoner spell

Most supports (including me) rather focus on other aspects of supporting, but there are options if you think vision is that important. Supports can already create more vision, they just don't because there are more important things to focus on.

You upgrade to Ruby Sightstone when you can't afford backing for wards every 2-3 minutes.

0/9/21 is still the most common support masteries.

i personally run 0/13/17 for magey supports (i.e. Sona and Janna) and 0/17/13 for the tankier ones (i.e. Leona and Braum) of course I run 9/21/0 for Thresh. Lol

But i feel like Ruby SS is the last thing you upgrade of your support items. . . I feel like i can do more with the 800 gold somewhere else.

That's not being a support. It's called the "Ward Bitch" position. No one wants to go back to ending the game at 40 min with nothing more than Mobility Boots, Ruby Sight Stone, and a gold generation item.
