Is Kayn too weak?

Played kayn prob around 12 games live and another 15 on the pbe, so far I feel like darkin is fine but base kayn and assassin r really weak. In addition kayn has a huge fundamental flaw, without ganking the right targets he becomes useless. If i want darkin sometimes i'd have to completely ignore mid and bot to gank top and if the top laner is pushing or something, i get behind. Kayn is great at farming but u really dont want to farm cause your snowball mechanic is damage to champs. It gets to the point sometimes I will suicide run at a laner just to get my form at a reasonable time and I don't know if that is desirable. My suggestion is increase the damage needed but allow you to choose darkin or assassin no matter what type of champs you damage. If not then kayn can get screwed by things really out of his control. Like one game I wanted to play assassin and focused on ganking ranges but the enemy jungler invaded to me and lost, but forced me into darkin because I 100-0 him and not any of the ranged champs. I get the idea of the ranged vs melee but I really do not think its practical.'

He's basically like a canon minion. I always expect him to die when he comes to lane, but sometimes it gets away from me with 2 hp.

I don't have the level of experience that you have but I agree with Riot when they say he is in a good spot.

The Shadow Assassin form synergizes a lot with Lethality items and I had a really good match with him since his W dealt a lot of friggin' damage. The Darkin is surely a safer path but I would give him still 2-3 weeks before asking for buffs.

Out of like 25 games with a kayn in it. I only saw him deal actual dmg twice. Otherwise he's that feeding pleb in ranked that tries to kill the adc but deals absolutely no dmg at all.

it's the first time (or maybe not) that Riot releases such a weak champion when he hits live servers...I've played like 20 games and tried both forms. The early damage is really bad which makes it hard to snowball. In the jungle Kayn is really weak vs almost all meta junglers that can do the job better than him. As a toplaner he's not good against all matchups (even yasuo early game).I feel like his base form needs some buffs to make him useful before transformations. Even the transformation nothing broken or OP. The darkin form is acceptable but the assassin form is quite weak (Talon and Zed for example can have more damage with less efforts and good escape abilities) His kit is quite interesting but no big damage and by the way i was disappointed to see that I could be targeted when I use E . I also died once by Zed's ultimate when I was in his body with mine...

He's a hard champion to play. Im literally wood 5 when I play. He was sent weak though. I've seen him wreak havoc on the rift.

You can get either form by killing either ranged or melee.
