Do people care about preseason rank?

How seriously do people consider being able to rank up in the preseason?

I've been climbing through plat relatively smoothly and I feel like I could hit DiamondV before the preseason ends, but knowing that it doesn't really have an impact on next season, and how preseason people may typically not take ranked seriously, do people generally just sort of dismiss ranking during this period?
