Why use scripts? Seriously, why?!

So I recently had a game where someone accused an opponent Ryze of scrypting (I don't think he was). I hadn't heard the term before and searched around for it. I found some stuff related to it and it made me wonder, what is the appeal of using scripts?

Is it just for the ego-boost of saying "look I'm in plat or something? Cause really, "you" aren't the computer is, you just happen to be looking at it. Is it so people can sell high ranked accounts? I just don't understand what a player gains from having someones scripted behaviors win matches for you.

Sounds like you already know why people use scripts.

The same reason why people cheat in games , just because they can .

It's for people who are more concerned about the destination than the journey.

"I'll be happy when I get diamond" vs. "Working my way up to diamond makes me happy"

The former line of reasoning generally results an a very empty feeling once the goal is achieved. That type of person will move on to their next "goal" and probably cheat for that trying to get some form of satisfaction out of it. People who appreciate the "journey" more than the "destination" are generally capable of enjoying themselves more, though that's not necessarily true.
