New Jungle Feedback

I rarely post on the forums, but the state of the jungle makes me feel compelled to voice my concern. I have been playing since season 1, and have been a jungle main for a few years. I ranked 2 accounts to platinum this season playing jungle.

The following is a list of my concerns:

The First Clear The first clear is very difficult. I was executed my first few games trying to use the refillable potion. I had to adjust by getting machete + 3 pots to get through the first clear, and at no point is it worth it for me to buy the refillable potion (maybe it is not intended for junglers, but it is a suggested item). It is almost impossible to look for a 3-4 minute gank now. The first clear is hard enough, but with better trinket wards people now ward your jungle looking to invade you during the first clear.

Income and Impact I feel like I have less of an impact on the game, and less powerful now. I can no longer get an early gank in, and I have a harder time getting any kind of gold lead. Riot, you nerfed the gold income from jungle monsters, but tried to balance it through ambient global gold. The problem with this is I no longer get a personal power spike and am able to snowball myself to carry the game. It is currently a struggle to bring in enough gold to stay relevant throughout the game and feel powerful as a jungler.

These are just a couple of issues I noticed right away. I am certainly going to keep trying out the changes, and I will adjust my play style as the meta deems fit, but it is less fun and over all more of a struggle, and this leads to being frustrated because the jungler feels helpless and powerless to change the course of the game, and leads to toxicity.

I only played jungle once and killed blue buff with like 40 hp remaining. I felt like the refillable potion is useless and sounds like going 3 regular potions is a much better idea. I did run the hunters potion, but the 60 hp regen and minimal mana regen per charge seemed pretty weak. I would spam like 3 at a time. I really did not enjoy that game as I was so focused on trying to clear and get level 6 that it was hard to think about ganks without the fear of dying during the engage.

Jungling is increasingly difficult. As JG main, this pre season is going to be a trip for me.

Refillable potion does feel pretty useless but I love the sustain I get from Hunter's potion. I also feel like my ability to gank early has been completely squashed, especially since I can't get blue smite until much later. The gold nerfs really hurt carry junglers as well and since camps no longer give bonus gold to the jungler I find my laners are stealing my camps more often, depriving me of even more gold. I feel like jungle is turning into second support but most tank junglers have been nerfed into the ground and can't clear well.

The biggest problem with the jungle is the fact that they nerfed hunter's machete big time to the point where it has little impact.

Which champ were you running hunter's potion with? What was your masteries?

I think the should up play the EXP advantage that the Jungle items give you. Mainly, because EXP Advantages will be useful Immediately, (while you have to keep going back to cash in your gold.) If they can do that, I wouldn't mind the trade off.

I'm a jungle main as well, and all of these nerfs went a bit too far. I've noticed that for a majority of the time, it's much more beneficial to not even finish your jungle item. Stalker's and Skirmisher's can be used for the smite, and Tracker's can be used on someone like Lee Sin to some success, but with the increased price and lowered stats on Warrior and Runeglaive, it's not even worth it to get them. You'd be much better off getting an item for equal/lower price with better stat offerings... Cinderhulk and Devourer are somewhat viable, but Devourer is only useful for the passive now. Junglers are being turned into "delayed laners" I guess you could call it, in that they're behind for a while because they have to farm the now empowered jungle (I say empowered because although monsters are easier, most junglers have less sustain and a harder time clearing) for a nerfed gold income, and usually end up building like their lane counterpart anyway. It's not a comfortable spot, and it feels like junglers have a very reduced impact. Riot is taking away the ability to carry from the jungle, and are instead forcing the jungle into a sort of "second-support" meta. All-in-all, I guess you could say it's more of a shift than a nerf, but for those of us that are so used to carrying or heavily influencing the offensive power of our team, we've come upon a rude awakening. I expect to see a lot more Utility junglers come back into the meta, because it can almost be guaranteed that the jungler will be behind.
