Please, fix your Ranking and Matchmaking systems

I really don't understand how a friend of mine can lose 7 out of 10 provisionals, do exceptionally worse overall than I do in games, and still get placed an entire tier above me. While losing (we were duoing) their MMR goes up, mine goes down despite how well I play and how not well they do. It's very frustrating.
