Ap mages in the jg are dead (FIDDLE COUGH)

Magus is the bread and butter of the jungle and now that they have removed it and added a niche item I feel that mages in the jungle are dead such as fiddles NIdalee may take a hit as well in certain situations. And of course all the off meta mage junglers. I feel like riot is going to have to add it back after a few weeks. And I hope they do. If even they had left magus and just added the runeglaive it would note even be a big deal but the system becomes unbalanced when they nerf or buff certain champs.

Any thoughts guys?

Oh and btw I know some of you have heard this exact thing from many people for sure but I thought I would agree with them.

Fiddles really doesn't need anything to jungle. You can actually play without the machete and do just fine

unfortunately the upgraded jungle item gives a lot of gold so it's still pretty necessary. and early on fiddle actually has to auto attack quite a bit so the machete helps even if it isnt necessary.

I just saw stonewall go amp tome first because he accidentally equipped tank runes on Fidd. He went 11-1 or something and was at no point hindered by lack of gold.

You have to consider a hero's kit when talking about how they may struggle. Fidd doesn't basic attack when his drain is practically never on cooldown. He has a fear and silence that will always draw out flashes or spell death for the enemy he's yanking.

Having a lot of gold from kills in ganks is nice but it's not like going 11-1 on fiddle is a normal thing. Fiddle can full clear on his first jungle run so the +15 gold from machete isn't necessary, but the +30 gold from upgraded machete adds up after awhile. You can't really plan on getting a dozen kills every game and the bonus gold generation is what keeps you from falling behind solo laners too much.

that would be horrible...if ap mages besides fiddle wouldn't have been dead in the jungle ever since spiritestone is gone. Runglaive will definitly be more helpfull than harmfull for jungle-deversity. Hiwever, real mages still lack acces to the jungle(which mostly is a problem befor they even can get magus or what ever, so a better enchant for them wouldn't really solve the issue anyway.

fiddle is a bit of an outlier. most ap jungle champions will benefit from the new item. the mana sustain is a main issue why most ap champions werent capable of jungling in the first place. the sheen effect will seriously help their clear.

it's a little sad that fiddle is being pushed out of what is arguably his only viable role, but i think it's worth it for the overall variety we might get in ap junglers out of this new item. fiddle support can still be a thing, especially if they tweak him a bit to push him in that direction.

I think what Riot is doing is pushing mages to lane, and leaving runeglaive for special cases (Skarner, Eve, and maybe Zac are the only short CD champs I can think of who'd do well with he sheen effect). 5.13 is going to boost the profile of all ap champs.

Not to mention, most mages don't have the early nukes, short cooldowns, sustain or defense to compete with others in the jungle. They really take a beating, and leave themselves vulnerable when being invaded, or if they happen to gank (doubtful since no one should gank with low hp).

I'd be fine with runeglaive if we got the ap item changed FIRST. now we'll be waiting about 2 weeks for the next patch....zzzzzzzz
