How is the new Aatrox not similar to the old Aatrox?
- His ult now is his old passive and old ult together.
- His E heals him, like his old W.
- The 3rd Q now is quite similar to his old Q.
- His old E, mainly used to catch up or to place his old Q better, is now his W: used to catch up and especially to place his Q better.
- His old ult gave him attack range and attack speed, new one gives damage and move speed, plus his old one did damage, it was part of the all in burst style.
- His E is also useless early and is static whereas his W was dependent on missing hp, it made him that half hp hovering guy that was deceptively tanky at low hp. Also his W had damage half.
- His new Q isn't an engage and knocks up for less time. He's also locked in place with a long cast time. His e is completely unnecessary, they coulda just let him move during Q with a movespeed reduction and made E useful.
- I will concede that with new Q, Old E is also a poke and they can fill the same role, but his new W is only for chasing, and even then a side movement will break the box completely.
As an addition, what defensive abilities does new Aatrox have? No escapes, E is too short, it's a reposition, not a huge mobility skill for engage or disengage. His Heal is now static, which makes his deceptive defensive healing less effective. His Q is useless at close range for the first 2 casts. Also his E is short enough that if an enemy melees you, your first Q won't hit them even if you use E to dash backwards. He has no defensive capabilities besides Blood Well and that was tacked on to Ult, and no longer is about stacking and maintaining your well to create a positive trade/safe fight.
Again I will say, utility wise, yeah you can say they have things in common, but this is nowhere close to old Aatrox.
