Viktor nerf harder than Kassadin's?

They're nerfing (in the PBE) the ability power Viktor gets from his Hex Core upgrades too much for him to be effective at all. On average, you can get the 1st Hex-core upgrade at around level 8 or 9. With the new hex core, you only get about an additional 16 or 18 ability power for 1000 gold. That's less than an amplifying tomb at 450 gold.

Where's the logic in this? item 3070 item 3196 item 3070 Viktor item 3070

A reduction on the scaling ability power would be more acceptable.

Wrong. You're getting 12 more AP on the final upgrade than the old core, as well as 50 less Mana. You're not spending 1000 gold on 12 AP.

With the first Hex Core upgrade, you get +2 AP per level, so +2-36 AP, for 1000 gold. You're getting 43.5-783 gold in AP.

With the second Hex Core upgrade, you get +3 AP per level, or +3-54, for 1000 gold. That's worth 65.25-1174.5 gold in AP.

With the final Hex Core upgrade, you get +4 AP per level, or +4-72 AP, for 1000 gold. That's worth 87-1566 gold in AP.

Each individual rank also gains an additional +10-180 gold from the +5-90 Mana attached to each upgrade.

The first Core's upgrade is not going to be cost-efficient by stats alone, but that's also the core where players tend to augment his E, which gains a ridiculous amount of power from the upgrade.

The second Core's upgrade is always cost-efficient after level 14 on just the stats; if you really want to upgrade Gravity Field earlier, it's probably worth it, and it comes out to being worth more anyway.

The final Core's upgrade is always cost-efficient after level 11 on just the stats, and you get your personal mobility and your ult speed upgraded for it.

The fully-upgraded Core's stats are 10-180 AP, 25-450 Mana. 1-18 AP and 10-180 Mana is provided with the free Core.

The total cost is 3000 gold for +9 AP per level, +15 Mana per level, which is 195.75-3523.5 gold in AP, 30-540 gold in Mana. Having all three Hex Core upgrades is cost-efficient by level 14 on just the stats, and all of your kit spells get upgraded.

The old Hex Core upgrades were +20(+1 per level) AP and +150/150/200 Mana.

The upgrades were 1000 gold spent on 456.75-783 in AP, 300/300/400 on Mana. The first two upgrades were cost-efficient at level 13, the third upgrade was cost-efficient by level 8.

The stats of the old fully-upgraded Core were 66-168 AP, 500 Mana. 3-54 AP is provided with the free Core.

The total cost was 3000 gold for +60(+3 per level) AP, +500 Mana, which is worth 1370.25-2479.5 gold in AP, 1000 gold in Mana. Having all three Hex Core upgrades was cost-efficient by level 11, and all of your kit spells get upgraded.

Final Note

The old Hex Core's total stats are worth 3654 gold in AP, 1000 gold in Mana. The new Hex Core's total stats are worth 3915 gold in AP, 900 gold in Mana.

The older Hex Core has a stronger mid-game than the new Hex Core, but it's not stronger in the end. This change is meant to balance out Viktor's power curve, which is something he has needed for a while now.

He shouldn't be good at all stages of the game so I say this is the step in the right direction with out nerfing his late game scaling ap ratios.

Honestly, at the end-game, item 3198 is one of the most efficient items in the game with 168 AP and 500 Mana in addition to buffing all of your abilities. Before the Hexcore was lackluster and was arguably the most wasted slot in the game. The Hexcore should be powerful to make up for not having a sixth item slot where you could put, say, item 3100 or item 3027 but it's extremely efficient in it's current iteration even ignoring the spell bonuses themselves. A nerf to it is better than reducing ratios or nerfing Viktor himself.

Well you have to think about the skill upgrades, which are pretty powerful, and at lvl 18 he actually has a little more AP. It really just shifts him to being a late game champ instead of a champ that's always powerful.

You gotta realize that you're augmenting your abilities as well. Even if his E augment is the only one that gives him a respectable increase in damage.

Catastrop8/8/2015, 6:02:28 PM2 votes

You seem to be forgetting that he also gets a buff to his abilities with his upgrades. Yes he gets less AP Early game now, but Mid and Late game, he basically has the same amount of power. These changes are just to keep him from being powerful at all stages, so it's really not that bad. Also, no one can ever get nerfed harder than Kassadin

Ehm.. did i miss something? Last information i had: They are juggling with his Hex-Numbers - end.

If you call that a Nerf.. kk.

(Even if his Buildpath changes - maybe Hexcore second instead of first item? - we´re still talking about the guy dealing 1.5k DMG by pressing E, some early cuts wont hurt him!)

Good luck being useful in the game if you even happen to die once in the game.

his early game is already really bad and his burst doesn't come until second upgrade+ morellos and 15% cdr runes.

CasterGilgamesh8/8/2015, 8:25:04 PM1 votes

this is not even close to how much they nerfed Kassadin riot just ruined him beyond playability

xJLx MCHammer8/8/2015, 5:13:38 PM1 votes

Quite honestly, I never knew why people upgrade the hex core two times. It should be Upgrade hex core to get laser upgrade Lich bane

It had less ap but much more burst.

So in my opinion the only real need is to his mid game and his mana cost all game. It's a nerd but not insane

PraetorAmalthus8/8/2015, 4:50:21 PM1 votes

early and mid he is weaker. but with lvl 18 he gets even more ap from his item
