I'm confused, educate me about the problem with Ardent Censer

I've been using item 3504 for as long as I can remember, but just as I get Rakan and start playing him a lot boards light up with all the talk about it's need to be nerfed

I've tried looking at its patch notes and other stuff, but I'm confused. What changed that made this item so strong that cause it to take over most of boards recently?

It's not just that, it's also crit item buffs, notably the warlords, the gold reduction on infinity edge cost, new rapid fire + statik + energize synergy all of which resulted in hypercarry meta. And what is strong and always was strong with hyper carries? Yep you guesed it, enchanters, they help hyper carries survive the early game while also making them powerspike faster with their abilities and items.

Edit: Also don't forget that majority of adc lane bullies got nerfed, aka Cait, Draven, Lucian, all of them were hit in some way by nerfs.

It's been completely broken for most of the season and most high tier players have been complaining about how stale the meta was in bot lane.

People in low elo are slow to pick up on what's strong until they see it played in pro games and Worlds is Ardent Censer all day every day.

As someone mentioned, it wasnt Ardent Censor being changed that brought it to the front.

ADC itemization got cheaper, and hypercarries became meta because of that.

Because hypercarries are meta, Ardent Censor became meta, because it essentially gives the ADC another full item without costing them anything (so they get to get their BF and Zeal, while ALSO getting Ardent Censor, for basically free).

There may be some confusion still going on, Considering that the Major nerf to Arden's didn't happen until after the worlds patch. (Meaning that worlds, and YoloQ are playing on different patches)

But before the Nerf, Arden's offered a Quasi Lifesteal to any champion healed by the enchanter who bought it. The result was the ADC never having to Itemize LS themselves, and double dipping into their big DPS items. (Part of the reason why were seeing 3 or 4 crit items on pro builds)

Currently though, that utility has gotten removed, and replaced with a different effect that gives the support itself a little more power. (By also granting them the AS/on hit bonus, when applied to an ally.)

Okay, so from what I understand it got noticed by the community cause of a mixture of pro-use and ADC item buffs Thanks for the help

maybe it just got ''discovered'' because this item went back to how it original was and back then it was considered garbage while now it's considered OP with the same stats

Its more and adc problem but they try to push the blame on ardent.
