Have there been more maps and gamemodes dedicated to skins lines then lore or fun in LoL?

I ask because I was looking at this new project mode and I just found it to be odd that another skin line got it's own map yet key places in lore haven't.

Star Guardian, Bloodmoon, Dark Star, and now Project have had their own maps and modes.

The true sadness here comes with the truth that still no new maps have been permanently added to lol in 5 years. Well unless you count the Rift Remake. Which I can see why someone would.
