Aurelion Sol Q minimum distance

Is there a particular reason Aurelion Sol can't instantly pop his Q stun like Anivia can?

His weakness is supposed to be getting right up next to him inside the inner orbits of his passive, having a regular ability able to totally reset getting in on him kind of invalidates that. I think getting in on him is supposed to force him to either use a summoner spell or ult.

Might be too strong. I haven't played him, but I'm pretty sure it starts off at a decent size. Instant stun that could hit more than one person means all melee champs can't fight without facing his burst.

At least that's my guess. I could be completely wrong.

it's supposed to be an ability you use aggressively

A Sol's kit is based around the concept of distance. He wants to control the distance, meaning people who want to fight him have to get close to him, where he can't fight back. There's a "safe zone" where A Sol can't fight, and the Q delay highlights that.

They kind of threw a mid-longer ranged mage with no close range protection against a pretty assassin heavy meta. He's kind of a weird champion to add to the meta, but hopefully with the mage update he'll get some items to combat assassins effectively.
