Tips on how to lane against brand Mid, and Brand support?

I've found that fighting brand is more frustrating than anything. He's got extremely high base damage, and I can't seem to find any really good tips on actually countering brand. His AOE's are really hard to dodge, and seem to be on pretty short cooldowns. I almost always end up behind one way or another, whether he's playing support or mid, he just always seems to be an extreme nuisance. Hence, why I want to know how to get ahead of him, or at least just give myself a fair laning phase against him. Frankly, I'd like to stop having to ban him in every single game because I despise him so much (especially now with his new skin, more people are playing him). Any tips and tricks?
