Singed's passive, is it a bit useless?

I ask this because many people will build mana on Singed simply due to the passive but he generally doesn't BENEFIT from building mana unless you just like to leave your poison on all the time. And if you do that, you deserve to be OOM. People often build RoA or Tear on him just to synergise with the passive, but I feel this is kind of a "noob trap", as it were, because... Some of his best builds involve no mana items at all, just Rylai's and Liandry's, then tanky, with the passive as little more than "hey, I have some more health". He's still a good champion right now and performing rather well, but I feel like his passive is just... There. It doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of his kit.

In it's current state, yeah, the passive is kinda useless. It served a purpose when those better items didn't exist and ROA and Tear were indeed solid options. But now? Usually just a waste of a passive.

So, essentially, the introduction of DMP and such made it pretty much useless to build towards? I can SORT OF see the purpose of it, to allow him more ability usage and get some tankiness out of it... But the conversion is so pitiful and so few items synergise enough with his kit and role that you may as well just build tanky if you wanna survive better. I wouldn't mind... Say, buffing his health a bit (so he doesn't get a bit gutted by losing a chunk of max health from the passive loss) and reworking his passive to be something... Actually useful. Really, conversion passives like these are either situational (Rammus/Galio) or bouncing between pitifully useless (Singed) and annoyingly effective (Vladimir).

I honestly feel like this shows that Singed's base mana is too high more than anything if you can get away with building no mana at all. Riot clearly gave him that passive with the idea that Singed would need to build early mana and they wanted to give him some extra tankiness to go with it. But people have figured out viable Singed builds and playstyles that don't require extra meaningful and not only are those playstyles viable, but they outclass the traditional ROA/Tear builds. So honestly, Riot should either change the passive or look at Singed's stats.

yea, his passive is kinda bad, you'll get alot more defence from just buying defensive items then building mana items on him

It makes item 3110 and item 3027 super good on him, but other than that it's a bit outdated.

You can only go oom on singed pre 10 minutes lol

Wait...you mean at some point you're suppose to turn it off?

I get that you shouldn't have it on at all times, but keeping it up for as long as possible in fights makes sense. Plus I really enjoy it on my smurf (with friends learning pvp), gets him pretty tanky with all that extra health and I get to use item 3070! I rarely ever use item 3070 since I don't play many mages or many champions that benefit from item 3004 and item 3042.

I just find it a refreshing change of playstyle.

In fights, sure. But during laning, you'll basically only use it for farming/zoning them off last-hits and just leaving it will force you to back very often. And by the time any fights really start happening, Singed's base mana and the regen from his ult will be more than enough to sustain it for a long enough time. He just... Doesn't really benefit from building mana that much.

I thought Mana regen didn't work in combat? Isn't having the ability constantly on count you as in combat?

No...no that doesn't make sense. I feel like it should but it doesn't negate certain items.

...Mana regen is mana regen, there's no difference in or out of combat.

Ralanr1 votes

Yeah that's my bad. I assumed it worked like health regen.

Unless health regen also works in combat, which I thought was the entire special point of DrMundo.

...Nnno, all stats work the same in combat as out of combat. Mundo's passive is just "His health regen is based on his max health" instead of being a flat amount. More or less.

Huh...interesting. Still learning the ups and downs of the game to be honest.

Just an FYI, but Mundo's passive is in addition to a flat amount.

It's just a boring stat boost, it could use an update.
