Why do you guys keep overloading kits?

Okay, I feel like it's a bit ridiculous that I even have to mention this but why does akali have everything and the kitchen sink in her kit? Why does she have an aoe ministun on the first part of her ult? Why does she have an aoe hitting sustain ability? Why does her shroud even last 7 seconds anymore? I get that Riot tried to work around some aspects of her old kit but she has to much in her kit currently. There's no reason that her first ult should have a ministun which guarantees a full combo into death. God forbid she threw down her shroud during the combo so you can't even counter her execute with exhaust. Taking barrier barely changes anything unless you're Orianna cause she'll just kill you right through it. Easiest way to fix her honestly is just remove some of the aspects of her kit or start nerfing her shroud and in lane sustain until she has gunblade.

I mean, they took a ton away from her. She lost her resets. Point and click dashes. Tiny ult cooldown. Sustain went way down.

Why does she have an aoe ministun on the first part of her ult?

Because they changed all of her abilities from point and click to skillshots, so they wanted to give her a way to guarantee actually landing an ability. They tied it to her ult so that she could only do it every couple of minutes, and they made it a microstun so that she could follow it up with one of her abilities while not actually CCing a target long enough to allow teammates to react and follow up with CC chains.

Why does she have an aoe hitting sustain ability?

Because she used to do single target damage, which gains a way higher percentage healing than aoe does. Converting her abilities to aoe from single target means she gets way less sustain from Gunblade, and the aoes are so tiny that you have to dry hump your team for her to actually hit multiple targets. They made her damage aoe to heavily nerf her, she would be so much stronger if they made her do single target again.

Why does her shroud even last 7 seconds anymore?

So that she can participate in teamfights. She has no defenses, no way to tank damage, no way to shield or block or absorb damage. If she gets CCed then she drops dead

I recommend picking the champion up and trying her out yourself for a few games. Once you understand how the abilities actually work and what their limitations are, you can actually do something about them instead of just whining until mommy Riot makes the mean champion go away.

In the recent reworks, Riot has overloaded the champs. Akali being a the best example along with Fiora (the huge amount of true damage she is able to deal and the infinite dashes along with a slow). Not much can be done though, it's very hard to balance champs like these especially with so many people using them. The best thing you can do is just ban her (which a lot of people do).

Flashy LCS plays.

She doesnt have an overloaded kit. She has a lot of things for 2 reasons;

They add oportunities to punish her (her heal can only be used at near max energy, meaning if shes trying to sustain, shes not doing much else)

Because her burst is so backloaded its not even funny. (R1 is a stun because it does near 0 damage, and R2 cannot be used immediately after. Her W is teue stealth because her playpattern requires her to hit you then run away then back in)

It sells better when the champs are stronger and can overcome their own weaknesses with other parts of their kit.

Teemo Be invisible in bushes or standing still, Do damage and blind sucka, move fast, mor damage on autos and poisons, lay invisible death mine. Simple, yet effective. Riot fell into the pit trap of needing to make things bigger then before and more amazing. But what is really hard is making something simple. They will never make another Jax or Annie with their current mindset.

There are 2 schools of thought about champ design. One is to collect or create an ability set around a theme that can generate deep/complex/rewarding gameplay. The other is to use abilities that enable the player to have the fantasy of being the archetype of the theme (a ninja or samurai or lasersquid or whatever). However, even 'fantasy' champions have gameplay needs, like poke, waveclear, sustain, cc, teamfighting. Since some of the abilities are dedicated to the fantasy, the others must be overloaded to make the champ playable.
