looking on help for darius

hey there im searching for a new toplaner im currently playing gp and illaoi but they are still often banned and picked so i have to search for another toplaner so i was thinking about darius bec i love immobile champs that can dish out tons of dmg if done right and darius himselfe doesnt rlly have the highest skillcap (without insulting any darius player/main). so i got a few question about items for him.

is it a good item i saw on a few darius and it helped to stick on a target to get the 5 stacks asap. if its good is it situationell or should it be core ?

is it rush worthy bec it works with your passiv ? or can you buy before it if you have a mobile enemy ?

was a must buy at release still worth to buy or should you skip it ?

and now my last question/ crap items or buildable ?

If you like GP and Ill I honestly don't reccomond Darius and feel Garen/gnar/jax would be more your style. The reason for this is Dairus is super high risk, super high reward, you either get smashed or you smash, their is no inbetween games with this guy.

I'm not a main by any reason, but

Cleaver should be fine, you don't need mallet. The way the phage passive interacts with Darius passive is insane. Lots of free MS. You'll also probably get a Dead Man's Plate at somepoint, which helps with getting onto / sticking on carries. Sterakks is always a good idea, respectable stats, useful active, the fact that it's a shield and not more flat health is amazing.

As for sheen items, I don't feel like you have enough time to get another damage item besides cleaver, otherwise you start being too squishy in mid game. They both seem viable thou, if you're going for a more OTK style Darius.

I would recommend rushing Black Cleaver in most matchups and always buying it in the game. Your passive bleed can quickly reduce the armor of everyone afflicted and you will receive a significant movement speed boost both in lane (after last-hitting a minion) and when chasing enemies (due to bleed). In addition, the CDR is very helpful for surviving fights due to the heal on your Q.

Frozen Mallet isn't a bad item on Darius but I would only recommend getting it as your fourth or fifth item (excluding boots) since you need resistances first. Black Cleaver and Deadman's Plate are typically enough to stay on a target and is a useful alternative for the slow and better defenses.

Sterak's Gage and Titanic Hydra are still worthwhile purchases, but they won't be purchased every game.

I wouldn't bother with Trinity Force or Iceborn Gauntlet. There are better options.

Frozen Mallet is good, but you can never say no to Black Cleaver. Darius deals a shit ton of damage because of his maxed out E and the shred from black cleaver. Tri force should never be built. It is too much money being spent for literally nothing. The only good thing that is good from it is the proc and the ease witha 3sec cd on ur W at lv 18 with 40% cdr. If you do want something like that, then Ice born is better because of stickiness and more defense and more CDR. Here is a good build item 3071 item 3111 / item 3009 item 3143 item 3065 item 3025 item 3053 . Another good damage item that is pretty not built is item 3748 . If you time it correctly it gives you one free auto attack to make it easier to get 5 stacks. Remember to build accordingly and against you match up.
