How to play new Swain

I am by no means a swain main, but hearing that people are either saying he's weak, or strong, I just want to share my thoughts on new Swain and how to play.

I run 2 different rune pages on him Aery Mana flow band Transcendence Gathering Storm

or

Glacial Augment Perfect timing Future's market Aproach Velocity

both pages run domination secondary with Cheap Shot Ravenous Hunter

Skill order Q > E > W Max Q first, then W then E

Typical Build: GLP Sorc shoes Zhonyas Spirit Visage Void staff or Liandries 6th item is very situational, but mostly go for health + defense item

Laning Phase: Here I find him at his weakest, his main damage tool is a pretty long cooldown, and it can be avoided from just being behind minions, at level 2 he can start being a bit more oppressive, but either way, missing E or pulling someone after hitting E, you can really punish him with his long cooldowns. Now I said to max W second, and simply because it's his 2nd biggest damage tool. But it's really hard to land you might think. That's where you're wrong. Hitting your W in laning phase is reliant on your E. You land your E, W in front of them, before the snare expires, pull them towards you, as they can't move while being pulled, effectively increasing the cc duration. So basic combo goes E -> W -> passive pull -> Q

Mid game: Around level 9-13 is where you'd be at your strongest, your Q becomes spammable and you have your ult for sustain and damage. There's only one weak point, which would be farming. Swain just can't clear waves as effectively in comparison to other mages. You can use E, then walk behind caster minions to clear them instantly and leaves the melee ones, but that's risky. You can E, W the melee, and Q, but that requires a 2nd Q most of the time still to clear the melee, requiring you to use 3 Qs + a full basic rotation just to clear a wave. Here is where I think Swain can use a buff. Make the W reduced damage to minions to 75%, while also lowering it's cooldown. While I understand it has a massive range, I honestly don't understand what it's for, I'd trade that range for even the slightest of lower cooldown on that ability Also for those who say otherwise, Swain's ult is really broken,

Late game: You fall off a bit, your damage can easily be outsustained, you're mostly outranged, enemy team probably has enough damage to justify any grevious wounds, but it doesn't stop you from being a really strong drain tank, you can get focused, then just drop aggro while being healed with zhonyas.

Conclusion: Swain is pretty balanced right now, as an ap bruiser, and not as a full ap mage. His base damage, and ratios for most of abilities are really high, but are gated by high cooldowns or being blockable/short ranged. The only thing that he needs help on is farming. It's rediculous that mid game and beyond, not even a full basic rotation can clear a wave of minions, and multiple uses of a short cooldown Q doesn't justify this lack of wave clear. In the modern meta where almost everyone has some form of wave clear through items, or abilities. Swain lacks, and is ridiculously slow and mana hungry for doing so.

I don't know how you can read that as balanced if his late game and early are both bad. You said his lanning is strongest, but that doesn't mean it's strong. Talk about how he's good in some place

Not topping damage meters? I am playing supp swain and routinely winning lane/carrying/topping dmg meters/getting S. This is gold elo though. Idk what you are.
