Hextech crafting question

So I understand you get loot filled chest depending on the champion mastery you have. My question is, let just say I have 5 lvl 5 champions, when the Hextech crafting is released would I already get the rewards for them or would they get ignored?

You understood it wrong. There is no connection between champion mastery and chest drops

Explain it?

Its about your grade at the end of the game (S to C) not your champ mastery (i.e. your accumulated XP on that champ). If you get a S on the first time you play a champ, you get the chest on this first time and you never need to farm mastery on this champ.

What? For real? Damn. I got an S+ My first game with lux yesterday morning... I should have waited.

You can get a chest (100%) after game if certain conditions are true:

You or your premade got S-/S/S+ in the end of the game
You didn't get a chest while playing this champion earlier this season
You didn't get 4 or more chests last 4 weeks

So in a sense. If you play a champ for the first You get an S plus. And a chest contains a skin? or parts for a skin? or Parts for a champ?

Chest contains shards and essences Shards are a "grey" version of content(champion or skin) They can be used to:

Get a week-long access to content of the shard(so you can freely try a champion/skin with it)
Disenchant it to get essences(of the same type)
Upgrade it with essences of the same type to get e permanent access to the content(the most important part!)
Reroll it with 2 another shards of the same type to get permanent access to random content of the same type(so you can use 3 champ shards to get random champion, or 3 skin shards to get random skin) So you basically open chests, gain shards and essences, disenchant/reroll shards you don't need and upgrade ones you need.
