This community surprises me sometimes
So the backstory, I was playing Soraka support and the game was very much one sided and the enemy support was understandable upset. He started talking some trash, and I'm not really a toxic player, but I will verbally troll your ass if I sense that you're getting frustrated.
E.G. Akali - "God this Xerath [6/2/3] is so bad, you just died to a 0/6 Akali, lul" Me/Xerath - "Well, at least I'm not a 1/6 Akali who got pubstomped in lane, Mad cause bad bro"
I'm not saying I'm perfect, because I will definitely rage a bit, but I rarely, if ever, start verbally abusing people with "Wow Garen, what a fuckin noob, you should un-install" but I have said some toxic things in the heat of the moment before like "Ugh, this Renek, always tries to 1v5" or something along those lines
ANYYYWAAAAYS, back to the story. I had just gotten into my verbal troll mode with the enemy support and the end-game chat emotions were high and he didn't say anything super abusive, but you could tell he was angry and I kept goading him. This lead to him saying "Get carried scrub, man your team's backs must've been heavy" [I had done very well that game, healed for more than their top damage dealer on the enemy team] and leaving. I wasn't done being a douchbag to him so I decided to add him as a friend and that my first comment would be something along the lines of "Awww, you mad cause you got it handed to ya, is that why you left??"
Feel free to read the chat, I've blocked out the name for courtesy's sake.
In picture two is where he surprised me. He asked me "So what did you want to say" Like he expected me to troll and degrade him, and that caught me off guard. It says it was in the same minute, but I took a good 40ish seconds just sitting there thinking 'Why did I add him? Is it just so that I can beat him while he's down?? How the hell is that sportsmanlike or kind?' I ended up realizing that... well fuck... torturing this poor soul over a bad game wouldn't make me feel any better, and if anything, it'll probably make their night even shittier than it already might have been. So I responded... well read it.
Later on, turns out that he doesn't even main support [I like to say I do though :D] and that he was on a losing streak that dropped him from Gold III to Gold V. We started chatting and he re-queued and won his next game and we even agreed to play with each other sometime.
Basically... His response just shocked the hell out of me.. what kind of community are we when you send out a friend request, and the other person EXPECTS to be fucking bullied and abused after a bad game. I mean damn... that's dark.. I'm just glad that he helped me break the cycle, at least for a little bit :)
[Edit] That turned into quite the wall o' text, if you want a TL;DR, well.. that sounds like a personal problem ;)
