New players should be able to get a free champion

Once a player reaches level 20 or 25, I say they should receive a free champion. It's incredibly hard to grind out IP for champions that you want to play, especially since everything is soon going to be multiplied by 6.5x. This should be done in accordance with the leveling rewards. By the time they are level 20 or 25, they will already have probably tried multiple champions on free rotation and see which ones they like best. They will probably have already seen every champion in game and see which one they want to play or are interested in. Having to grind for it as a new player kind of sucks though since playing games will seem more like a chore than actually having fun.

The players will not be asked to pick a champion right when they hit 20 or 25, but instead they should receive a free champion voucher that they can use in the shop. This way, they won't be pressured to make an instant decision since some people take more time than others to decide on one champion.

Questions I know will be asked: "But won't they just pick a 6300 IP champ" First off, if they're really a noob, then I say at least half of them won't and half of them will pick a champ they have a genuinely fun time with. If someone is making a new one trick account for ex. a one trick kindred, then this helps them too.

"Riot will lose a lot of money from the champions that could've been bought" It should be common sense not to buy champions with RP if you can just grind it out instead and save $5 or $10. If new players do want to buy champions with RP, then they will learn soon enough that wasting RP on champions sucks since you can use it to buy skins instead, which can ONLY be bought for RP.

We are already going to get a bunch of champion shards for players in the preseason

I'm saying this for future reference when new players come.

I strongly suggest you read the preseason updates before you type out a page & a half on the ins & outs of your dilemma.

there is nothing hard about grinding it out for champs to buy.. sorry but i have all champs with 147Kip to spare.. it isnt hard.. what they should do is make them achieve a certain mastery lvl for that champ before being able to use them in ranked.. Tired of New champ releases and getting people picking them in ranked not knowing fully what the champ is able to do..

no one said it was hard, it takes lots of time... and while that's nice you have been playing so long this thread was about new players having to grind for their first champ

Don't they already with a free chest and essence at the start ?

kalima9941 votes

With cheap champs that they could buy by playing a few games

I got tahm from mine on an alt acc.

It's completely random just like what is being suggested.

How though, I made a new account on EUW a few weeks ago and all I got from the beginner chests was garen and ashe and an ashe skin. And the other chest that gave me a skin for teemo

Idk about you, but you get Garen and Ashe. I suggest that they get a champion voucher that they get to spend in the shop to get 1 free champion of their choice.

u play for a couple of days and u can get enough to buy the lowest champs.. what is it 190exp for 1st win of the day?? do that for a week and u have enough to buy a couple of champs.. OR you just buy the starter packs.. get like 8 champs.. ya i have been playing for a while but it doesnt mean i didnt have to grind it.. u get to learn specific champs like the back of your hand while doing it.. maybe riot should maybe spot new players the 8 champs or what not that they have suggested as easy champs to play.. Like Yi, Annie, Garen,.. umm those are the only 3 i remember them listing as recommended champs.. there were more..

  1. Starter packs cost money
  2. If you play 5 games a day, that's (200+80+80+80+80) which is 500 IP a day, and play that for a week, you don't even have enough IP to buy a 4800 IP champion. Obviously you don't realize that I mean that people want to play 4800 and 6300 IP champs, right? Those are the ones that are most appealing to them since they probably are out of their reach.
  3. Those champions are in their reach, and they have simple kits that aren't much fun compared to making good plays with the more complex and unfortunately more expensive as well champions, so it doesn't even matter.

so you would rather them be able to rush the high mechanic champs with high skill caps before learning the basics of the game like map awareness, last hitting, mana consumption, CD's, positioning?

sorry but id rather a player learn the game's basics before giving them a free yas, zed, syndra, or cass to play..

and although i cant see how much these champs cost anymore cause i own them but top 12 champs listed for cheapest IP all have good kits for low lvl players to learn off of.. a good mix of all roles, lanes and types.. from tanks to junglers to mages to assassins to supports.

So ya id expect people IF they want something fast in this game to drop some cash on it.. whether it be a starter pack of champs or even IP boosts for wins.. either way they need to grind it out and learn the game as they go...

Beech I still don't know how to last hit perfectly or position myself, and I've been playing for two years. I say let the noobs get a freebie. There are still 120 left for them to splurge on.

PearPearadox1 votes

Hey guess what, that's exactly why I said if they were level 20 or 25, that's when they've played 20 levels worth of games and have already learned this stuff, and if it's a champion they like, they've probably already played them too during the free rotation.

Fargo791 votes

sorry no earn the champs like everyone else.. Riot has given people ways to fast track the progress in the game.. buy RP and buy bundles or Boosters packs (EXP and IP).. otherwise ya grind it out and u "should learn" the game as u go along.. i can help what people have played this game for 2+ years and still have no idea how to play it.. but yes learn off of whats given to u on free rotations and use your IP wisely.. Good news is you wont have to worry about not having runes anymore come the new season..

Levels 10 and 20 should offer 50% IP off 1 6300 champ.
