So I always thought garen did wayyyy to much damage considering how tanky he could be, I don't think "nerfing" his q by 20 damage at max rank is considered a nerf. What they should of done was also lower the ad scaling and damage with his q, lower the damage on his e and make it so when he presses w it slows him. Doesn't matter what champion I play it seems like garen is the one that is always unstoppable wins every lane no matter how hard you outplay him because thats just how he is. I dont see why nerfing his q by 20 is going to change anything at all. Late game garen just q's you for 500 damage atleast beacuse they build trinity force and some build storm razor cause they know it doesn't matter how much ad they build they can just press w for all those tanky stats and then press e to spin to win while you are silenced because you can't use any mobility moves to get out then he just does atleast 1k with his e and then can finish you with his r. If garen is allowed to do that much damage his w shouldn't give him that much tank stats. It's so annoying facing a garen because I automatically lose lane to him and then he can one shot my whole team while being the most tanky champion in the game.

Reducing damage by 20 at max rank on an ability that is spammed and is pretty much always maxed first isn't a nerf?

So if they cut 20 damage from Kled's rank 5 Q it wouldn't be a nerf?

garen isnt a tank. hes a fighter.

interesting that you dont understand the concept when you play exactly the same type of champion with darius, kled and irelia.

and meddler already talked about possible compensation buffs to garen and yorick if their performance at high mmr is impacted too much.

garen dropped to 46% winrate at diamond when the patch hit, so maybe there is hope theyre putting some power back into his e, or buff the w parry a bit, as its probably the largest hook for skill expression in his kit currently.

time will tell how its going to look like when a majority of the meta sheep jump off them.

Garen is vulnerable to displacement, the real issue is predator neglecting his lack of mobility, combined with triforce damage he can pretty much two shot a carry. I don't hate on Garen but the amount of burst dmg he can do especially when the target is a villain is insane.
