Most people are unhappy with the preseason and they're right.
After days of playing and having debates here on the boards I want to break down what's going on and why almost no one seems happy with the current state of the game.
The new objective focus, while interesting as an idea, favours HEAVY SNOWBALL. Incentivating early skirmishes could be a good thing but the way it is designed here forces fights too early heavily favouring a small pool of champions over the others in most roles.
Botlane is unhappy because supports are starved (with the exception of
and
) and ADCs had their exp gap with solo lanes increased, they're crucial for taking dragons but their ability to do so heavily relies on the mid and jungle matchups, god have mercy on their soul if a toplaner decides to
bot with 3 levels on them.
Toplane is unhappy (as usual XD) because they're excluded from those fights that decide most of the game from the very beginning. The exp buff doesn't make up for that, if anything it increases the snowball effect of their lane opponent if they happen to lose a trade while in an unfavourable wavepush condition.
Jungle is simply miserable because they've seen their experience gain gutted, especially pre-6 while they have more pressure than ever to apply pressure as soon as possible, influence matchups and control objectives. At the same time their actual importance in securing objectives dropped dramatically as lane priority overshadows smite heavily due to the fact that the low health on Dragons allows almost no response time to the defending team. No, there is no way you can indeed reach the theoretical threshold of powerfarming to the point you get more exp unless you ignore everything else. Viable champion pool and diversity were DESTROYED as the priorities shifted.
I don't see midlaners complaining, but at this point it would be silly if they did, they are more central then ever, much more than any other role as they're in a favourable position to take objectives, influence other matchups and still receive help from jungle. I will say that they also can't hope to influence the game as they should if they don't have a powerful waveclear, which also resticts their viable champion pool drastically.
Do we want Season 10 to be like this? I know I don't.
EDIT: My proposed solutions would be to revert the exp chages for laners, to let support items keep the gold generation indefinitely, to slow down jungle (higher camp hp) while increasing its rewards so ganking presents an actual tradeoff and to change omnistone into a rune that reduces tp cd whenever it's used to movo on the opposite side of the map.
