League Of Legends,A Game For Hardcore Gamers?

I am addressing a post a rioter made at the ending of the last season,he addressed league of legends as a game for hardcore gamers before making the last changes to the ranked system. Is league of legends realy a game for hardcore gamers? to me league of legends seems like a game only for casual players, interactions between you and your team are severely limited since you can get reported and punished for criticising a teamate badly,(the next step for riot would be to add dictionairies from which we have to choose our words from) assisting enemy team and trolling dont seem to be a bannable offense statisticaly. I understand that you have to be a hardcore gamer to unlock all of league of legends features(champions runes etc) :) but the game both in gameplay and the way riot handles it seems to me like a game designed for the biggest audience the casual gamers. If i find the rioter post i will share it in the comments.

IMO I think the game can work for both depending on how much time you want to put into it.

But honestly it's hard to market to "hardcore gamers" every year because the intended market is growing up and getting more responsibilities.

I can't play games till 2 AM anymore like in college because I have work at 8:30 AM for example. Some people are getting married or having kids. We don't have the time to be hardcore gamers as much as we used to without major sacrifices that we may see as not worth it.

the diference between a hardcore gamer and a casual gamer except the time spent in a game is also the competitiveness,a hardcore gamer always wants to be competitive and rise in the rank ladder, you dont see many casual/underage gamers climbing the rank ladder high enough. Therefore its natural for a hardcore/competitive player to be more passionate about the game and express himself in the game, riot doesnt take that in consideration, they want all kinds of critisism out of the game, calling someone a bad player a troll or calling a report is unacceptable.Thats what in my opinion makes the game mostly for casual players the lack of competitiveness the lack of players expressing themselves in the game.

Except by your definition, they do have the environment for hardcore players in high elo.

Bad player reports only lead to a toxic environment and weren't taken seriously anyway. Trolling differs on a case by case basis.

Plus it's the community itself that actually reports you.

the worst fuck up riot has ever done in the report system was give the ability to people to report for multiple offenses,a lot of players report others for "intentional feeding" just because they played badly and just slap in there verbal abuse for no reason at all.then you see players getting banned with the only toxic message in their chat being "report x" 30 seconds before the game ends.

the entire punishment system riot has released exists to serve casual gamers. It doesnt realy matter what you do in the game as long as you dont flame a teamate youre good by riot standards.Which is the exact opposite from what every hardcore/competitive player wants.I dont want my teamate who called me bad or said "report x" perma banned i want the guy who got autofilled and went ashe support 0/24 permabanned.
