My Opinion on AR URF
Amongst a few of my friends, this actually is a bit controversial. However I thought I would like to hear the opinion of the boards and possibly riot themselves. The past couple of times, rather than URF (which I think I can accurately say a large part of the community enjoyed) in which each team could ban 3 champions and then pick whoever they wanted to. Now, instead, we cannot ban and a computer decides who we will be playing.
I have played plenty of ARAM games, and frankly enjoy them better sometimes. Rather than picking whatever is in the meta, each team is forced to play random champions and they have to work together as a team and win. And I understand that this was the concept for AR URF: make sure people don't continuously pick the same champions over and over again because its "meta."
Here is the problem I have: URF is meant to be chaotic and crazy, not team oriented. Making people play champions that either they are not necessarily used to, don't want to play, or champions that aren't exciting and don't unleash the full potential of URF just ruins one of Riot Games' best creations. This toppled with the fact that it always seems like the enemy team manages to have one of those annoying "meta" picks only spoils my experience.
Here is what I propose. If Riot and the community would prefer random champions, then at least allow for 3 bans before hand. I think personally this would relieve a lot of stress about constantly facing an overpowered team based on complete RNG (something Riot has said many times they want to get rid of). Otherwise (and in my opinion more preferable), go back to the pick and bans, possibly with more bans if you want to stir up the pot a little.
All in all, URF by far brought the most joy to my friends and I, but we find ourselves being frustrated and arguing about our games. Any response is much appreciated by anyone. Like I said it's kind of a hot topic with my friends and I just wanted to get some input from the community and possibly Rioters themselves.
