Calling On Rioters Specifically! How do YOU feel about Dynamic Queue?
Hey Riot!
Just had some interest after seeing an interesting comment by Riot Montag regarding internal debate of DynamicQ
We're also having those impassioned debates internally. Rioters are players, too, so of course we have a diverse set of Thoughts and Feelings on DQ (which translate to hundreds of lines of chat discussions at 1am). We have to remind ourselves sometimes to let the team work, to trust they're trying to do the right thing without demanding an answer today today, and that shoring up DQ will take time and exploration. I'm personally very confident in the team, both in their intentions and in their expertise to improve ranked.
I'm wondering if any Rioters with both negative and positive sides to the story regarding dynamicQ are willing to share their thoughts. I really like the debate going on and besides all the hateful comments both for and against dynamic I think it's actually arguably healthy for the game at this stage.
I have a very distinct opinion on the matter and it's more based on the recent responses some Rioters have given that are, frankly, abrasive and rude to the community of players that play THEIR game. I do however believe that the unwavering hate from the community is unnecessary given that dynamic queue is in it's infancy as of right now. But I think Riot also needs to take off the rose-tinted glasses and be more transparent with the community. I understand at the round table a discussion on why transparency was hard due to the size of the community which, in my opinion, is completely irrelevant to the idea of transparency. But I think with the growing pains of the company it takes time to do everything efficiently.
Basically I believe that while Riot has the best intentions for what is the best for the community the lack of communication between Riot and the community is a huge point of contention because it causes a very small /=/ large portion of the community to feel abandoned, uninformed, and sometimes betrayed.
Some of the biggest questions I have for Riot is:
Q1: How do you think this will affect competitive play with the introduction of dynamicQ and auto-fill being introduced which can possibly force people out of roles they potentially haven't played in 6-7 months?
Q2: Do you see yourself trying to create a more personalized system in which someone can focus on what they want in games specifically? (For instance a slider system where a player can pick between having a longer queue time in exchange for having no premades or a desired role, or trading off both for the shortest q time possible).
Another really interesting idea I saw was a checklist type of profile where you can choose to pick between 2-5 roles where you could pick which one's you want, this could potentially lower queue times because you'd have more interchangeable role selection as well as making it easier for players who want to fill besides one role. For example something like
[x] Top
[ ] Jungle
[x] Mid
[x] ADC
[x] Support
Q3: Do you see yourself as a company trying to put a bigger prioritization on Clarity and open communication in the community? I really think you guys do a great job as a company but it becomes hard when a large group of people feel misinformed?
I really hope I get some responses from Riot because I really want to paint a bigger picture for the community as a whole. I understand it sucks when you have people making death threats to Rioters, which is absolutely disgusting I might add, because of choices they've made as a company.
I also made a separate Reddit thread but In case it gets removed based off of me talking directly about Rioters I'd rather have another copy on something that makes more sense.
