Thoughts on Olaf

Olaf is my favorite champion, because of the diversity to choose from in his kit early game.

Tho if you build tank, your q does little to no damage at all, and w's life steal is insignifigant. No sustain. I love his potential, but there are so many flaws and Olaf falls off fast.

I think he needs some love. Maybe a buff.

Your thoughts, summoners?

what could help is his Q missile speed being a bit faster... enemy champs can kinda side step it.

I suggested awhile ago to allow him to cast Q while moving. I think this issue is part of why BC is so good on him, he can slow, and then get the MS to make up for having to stop.

i think he could do a bit more with some adjustments... hes strong but he is very prone to getting kitted or being a bit useless if his ult isn't up... hes very very ult reliant for either engages or counter engages

Hmmm, his ult is only useful when you have full health and go 1 vs. 1. I say this because you get bursted TO DEATH immediatly when you flip R.

But coming back into lane, flipping ghost and R, axe, e, w, AA, you can get thier health don nicely. Like a super poke, but only if you build pure life steal and Ad early. If you tank, you don't do damage, still get bursted into hell when ulting, have no waveclear, and no lifesteal sustain. Tanklof SUCKS every game I play him. Tanklof cannot push towers fast enough to properly split push, cannot turn tides of team fights, or even do meaningful damage, or have any life steal sustain from w. Tanklof is just food for the enemy. It is also annoying that everyone tells me to Tank as Olaf, when as an experienced Olaf player, I know Tanklof brings nothing useful to the table.

Only Life steal Olaf seems to work, for me anyways, but you cannot die even a few times, or Olaf becomes useless anyways. I rush ravenous, than bloodthirster, BoRK, than either youmuus or 1 tank item for better health. I find this build to be the most effective. It is essentially a bruiser build. I do this to resonate with his kit, and acually have decent sustain with w.

Ironically, I'm reluctant to give up Olaf as I like his play style and choice of tange and all in abilities. It takes skill to play Olaf.

He really does deserve a buff. A defensive buff, not a q buff. Q is good if you know how to land it properly. The only problem I see with Olaf is getting bursted like nothing during ulti. You CANNOT escape from ulting

His ultimate Is infuriating to fight against,It Is pretty hard to counterplay It.

If you buff Olaf,he's going to be pretty probemlatic.

I was thinking having Ragnarok grant additional Life steal. So, Olaf can still be bursted easily, but can stand a chance and not die immediatly when ulting. Basically, if you build utility to stick to yhe target, you have a slightly better chance of survival in teamfights. Remember, he could still be easily bursted with that buff, so he's not unstoppable.

More importantly, it keeps Olaf from falling off and hurting the team

OR!!!!

Take away his not-in-use passive, and activate the current passive when Ragnarok is activated, than it will be a true ultimate, not a super risky ability. This would allow for R to be used as a SAFE escape mechanism, not an instant burst for running.

I actually was in the process of writing out a pretty lengthy post to you but...

{quoted}

Tho if you build tank, your q does little to no damage at all, and w's life steal is insignifigant. No sustain. I love his potential, but there are so many flaws and Olaf falls off fast.

...Do you even play Olaf? His lifesteal is increased based on his missing % of health...and when you build tanky, you hold onto that stronger lifesteal for longer. And then right after that you say he has no sustain? His W is completely about sustain...

Olaf also is a monster at full build, and very few people can duel him lategame. Your true damage still hurts carries lategame, and you can slowly wittle down tanks that lack the sustain that you do, because you really DO have sustain. If you truly think it's that bad, buy Ravenous Hydra

I main Olaf, acually. I've went tanklof a hadful of times. The true damage is the main soutce of damage, yes, agreed. But I hardly without the w effects without lifesteal items. 2vs1 seems to nearly cancel it out.

Most games, I rush ravenous. Than I typically build bloodthirster, BoRK, than either youmuus or DMP, with situational boots. With this as my core, I can have amazing sustain when focused(2 or 3v1). Also, the AD/Lifesteal items are amazing for split pushing. You have great wave clear with this, and objective pushing power. Heck, if I go Rav, Bloodthstr, BoRK, and youmuus I can solo baron and walk away with almost full health.

Doing this build is fun for me, because I like seeing my health teeter totter up and down while spamming q and e, and w when I can after I've poked enough with my axe. Considering how much Mana the q costs, it MUST hit hard.

So I suppose I play Olaf as a bruiser. Anything else, my Olaf performance is terrible.

The only bad thing about my bruiser build is that I very wdak against range, but up close I have a gay amount of Life Steal for sustain. I feel it works better with his kit rather than pure tank.

No. Doesnt need any buffs. He is good. Please no buffs to make him the new garen.

he gets kited too easily and the way itemization is and his odd kit of being a bruiser caster who relies on AA to use his W and passive but his big damage is his Q which requires him to stop and throw?

like dont you guys see how jacked up and confusing his kit is? the guy who did it smashgizmo kept spewing counter play yet he abused the freelo vi when she came out and yasou.

all they did was stack on more attack speed for someone whose also happens to rely on his Q casting

im still pissed

I wish I knew Old Olaf. I agree about the stopping to throw the axe. I try to use the slow to escape, but because he stops to throw, I still get caught unless I have boots AND dead man's plate.

I personally really like the attack speed passive. It kicks ass.

I don't like how easy it is to burst Olaf, and his lack of defenses. They can of course be mitagated, but again. Tanklof does insignifigant damage. Unless you go titanic and full blown highest hp items. Than it's okay. I still prefer Super Kickass High Risk Pure Lifesteal, Attack Speed and Movespeed Olaf. It rocks if played correctly.

Also, you can't mess up as Olaf, because he will fall off hard and not recover, unless its the rare occasion the enrmy makes a dumb play and you somehow score a triple kill. IF you have the skill to do so.

I do like how his kit has options. He's fun and challenging to play to max potential.

or they could probably revert him to what he originally was before the warmog and brutalizer being OP that got him nerfed in the first place

Jotunheimr1 votes

Lemme guess. Brutalizer isn't OP anymore.

I tried the juggernaut items on Olaf. I still do betfer with Lifesteal Olaf(eith Boots of S) and Warmogs ot DMP.

DMP is my favorite defense item, up there with warmogs
