When does this change?

I really don't understand why I still only get 15 lp and lose 20 lp How am I expected to climb anywhere, when the odds are against me, like really bad. I didn't lose a single game, so shouldn't I start gaining more lp? What even is my MMR

EDIT: nvm, I lose 22 lp http://prntscr.com/iwi1ok

It will never change. I have been campaigning for years fo have a better ranked system but get downvoted to hell every time. Just enjoy it I guess?

Riot insists this system is great and does well to place you where you belong! Never question! Never doubt! Riot knows what's best for you!

Welcome to true elo hell. Where you can have a 55% win rate but still fail to climb because the point system hates you. :)

You are in gold 5 which the MMR is around 1500.

You are playing in 1400 MMR(one game was 1380) which explains the LP gains/losses

A non-official area to see a (usually decently accurate) estimate of your mmr is na.op.gg. Search your name.

I searched yours and your MMR is slightly above avg for your Div/LP.

then it doesn't make sense. now does it?

opgg only takes into account your recent ranked games to calculate their guess at your mmr though.

Madsin251 votes

OP is not taking into account the actual MMR rating of the game. Not just his MMR.

My guess is you took a long break, and you were coming back from a multi game loss streak at the bottom of Gold V. You played a crap load of Normals recently, so no one can even look at you record to analyze your ranked trends. What defines your LP gain is current/recent game performance, and if you went something like 60/30 and then fell off a cliff.... your LP gain will be crap even once you reach 84/77.

It's easy to fuck up your MMR and fixing it is a chore. But if you win more you actually start increasing your LP gains.

I had a gutter MMR last season (trying to be a better ADC). Fixing it meant 1-tricking my main, and my LP gain hit 20 per game after winning ~75% of my next 40-ish games.

In other words, you have to play like you're a booster to fix this in a matter of weeks. Otherwise, it's months of regular play winning 50-55% of games.

But if you win too much, you end up like I did last season having to play against plat3-plat1 just to promote to plat 5.

Dodge to loose until you mmr is stable. I once had a bad mmr (12 lp gain), I won 17 game in row and was still at + 12, so I assume my lp was increasing at the same speed of mmr keeping this difference.

Madsin251 votes

Dodges have zero effect on your MMR. Dodge all day long you will fight the same opponents when you decide to stop.

The reason for the lp gains is this.

You have 1500 MMR it puts you in 1300 MMR game.

You gain 12 LP when you win and 50 MMR.

So next game you have 1550 MMR and it puts you in a 1350 MMR game,

My bad, i meant dodge until your lp match your mmr.

Almost everyone in your games are lower than your rank so when the system determines that you lost against lesser opponents you'll lose more points, but when you win again lesser opponents which is expected you'd win less. Really screws you over based on whose in your game too
