Cho'Gath, Generally Unhealthy In-Game

Cho'Gath is my most played Champion in the Entire Game, First Champion that I ever picked up, Why is he getting Ignored? that one exception in Patch 4.8 (thanks for that by the way.) he has not seen any changes nor Quality of Life Changes to Cho'Gath, At all he has these outstanding problems.

Cho'Gaths Q (Rupture) it is Really hard to land, Too Land a Rupture you must,

  1. have have the correct positioning
  2. Carefully Bait all Escapes (or hope they just don't use it)
  3. have the target run into the Rupture (putting rupture on a target just means he'll just run out of it) this is something that I have to do to land Rupture correctly if one of these things don't happen you miss the Skill-Shot (can even you killed)
this further complicates things when you Jungle Effectively with Cho'Gath you must Land Rupture to Gank, all your Burst Comes from your Q and your R (Feast) so landing your Q as a Mid Laner is also important so you can do your normal Combo (Q,W,E, summoner 14 ,R)

Cho'Gaths W (Feral Scream) has a small delay, its a problem with its Cast Time there are times where Skill-Shots, Ult's , and other ability's will seem to Go Through the Silence this may Kill you or foretell the doom for your Teammate that is trying to get away from the Enemy, you almost have to treat this like Rupture and have them Run into the Skill-Shot which is silly,

Cho'Gaths passive is another thing very useful in the beginning but once you go into Teamfights its like not going in with a passive at all, its like its not even there, I would like jungle Cho'Gath too be a possibility why don't we just make this a passive in Cho'Gaths E (Vorpal Spikes)?

Cho'Gath has this problem about his Stacks and Dieing, if Cho'Gath Dies he immediately becomes Weaker because he loses all that extra health he gained with this R (feast) to get those stacks back he will have to Feast 3 more Minions, Monsters, Champions, so now you go into this Dilemma do i feast now and get 4 stacks, but i will Not have my ult for the Teamfight i could save my ult for this Teamfight but I may not be as Tanky as i want too be for this fight to happen what happens then.

Cho'Gath Role is not Defined well Example, a Tank don't need a 100% Scaling Q (probably why its so hard to hit) the tank will want the Utility, a Mid Laner is more faverful with lower Mana costs and with no Gap-Closers to get close with that Ult or E not much use, a Jungler that only means of Ganking is a very hard to land Skill-Shot, also slow and clunky will out going 0/9/21 I cant see him in excelling there, a support with long cast times with an ult meant to deal killing blows might not be too popular with your Marksmen Friend.

(Small Question): You would think Cho'Gath wold have a better Early Game I mean he is a Giant Monster after all why is a Blind GuyLeeSin stronger then a Monster early?

Why is he getting Ignored?

There's only so much attention Riot has to give each patch. It's fairly rare they hit more than 10 champions per patch, which isn't even 10% of the rooster right now. Probability is just not with your favorite champion.

Also - Cho'Gath isn't in a bad spot balance wise. He's a fairly reliable top-lanner that generally adheres to rock-paper-scissors dynamics. He doesn't have any glaring issues that need to be addressed, he looks about as scary as he is, isn't dominating the pro-scene by being overpowered in a way that deserves attention, and doesn't really have any reason to be hit with changes.

Ever since Riot gave big cho an AoE buff to his skills the bigger he gets, they seem to be fairly happy with where he is balance-wise.

Cho'Gaths Q (Rupture) it is Really hard to land

It's stupidly powerful.

If it was easy to land it would be something like Ryze's Rune Prison. A 0.75 second snare, not a skill more powerful than Leona's friggin' ultimate.

Slow and powerful is a re-occurring theme throughout Cho's entire kit. On paper his abilities pretty much obliterate that of everyone else. Like I said - his Q is more powerful than Leona's ultimate. His AA steroid is more powerful than Vayne's ultimate to, even if you ignore it doing AoE damage.

But Cho'Gath is a Heavy, he's the tank wielding a gigantic maul or great axe. He really friggin hurts - but he trades out a lot of agility to be that way. He's not going samurai or ninja status on you with his crushing, warhammer-like play. Speed isn't his style.

You would think Cho'Gath wold have a better Early Game

His early game isn't exactly awful - he brings some fairly solid bully potential, and if you stay in solid enough positioning to prevent all-ins from working out, he's stupidly hard to poke out of lane due to his passive.

Cho'Gath's ultimate is just weird in general.

Think of it like this, Cho'Gath's ultimate makes you outright stronger as a champion, yes? What's the counter play to this? Death, it causes you to lose stacks. What does Cho'Gath's ultimate play against? Death, your stacks give you more health and makes you harder to kill.

Isn't this literally the reason why Leviathan was deleted from the game?

He needs a rework, sad but true.

He's either a tank with no tank abilities (CC does NOT make one a tank, and HP doesn't either, seeing as how EVERYTHING drains max HP now, no mobility, no initiation) or, he's a mage with a horrible inconsistent kit, nothing he has works together.

If his ult or abilities or stats scaled with tank stats/items he would be fine, but he doesn't. Make his ult scale with HP and have it give you AD or armor or MR or SOMETHING as well as HP when cho gets bigger... New sion's W scales with max HP AND gives you more max HP as you last hit creeps... really? I KNOW you could throw poor old SUPER neglected cho a bone...

I know very few people try Cho this way, but going as an Assassin works. Cho scales as a tank with his ulti alone. His rupture gets 100% AP, his scream gets 70%, his auto attacks get 30% via toggle, and his feast gets 70% as well towards TRUE damage. Add to that, his Q and W have low cooldowns (not relatively, but serious- 9 second q which is a full disruption and isn't as hard to land as you think, and 13 second w that is amazingly good at taking melees out of the scene), you have a CC assassin. Tried it, it works. People expect Cho to tank, a non tanky cho is still beefier than most assassins (kassadin, talon, katarina, ahri) and has more ap scaling than some mages. As a tank, you can go super beefy with a tad bit of spell vamp OR life steal (depending on your playstyle ofc) and still be a menace. Imo, chogath doesn't need more love. He doesn't need hate either. He needs to be left alone. Cho is one of the few champions that I would say are thoroughly balanced.
