Buying Champions - Outdated Design

Like the title says. By my calculation, I'll get about one 6400 champion in one or two months. This old design is restricting me from playing a free to play game. By saying I should buy champions with money, then that would not make the game free to play, since champions are part of the game.

I'd think, that by having all champions free, people would buy more skins. But no RP for now. They need to fire some people, then we will buy skins.

It's not outdated. Character unlocks are still a normal monetization model for f2p games. It's not cheap to maintain servers for this many players.

older champs are cheap as fk. Also you can get champ shards which allow you to buy champs at half the normal BE value. It's really not that hard to get champs you want.

How are they to make money? That is one of their means it is free to play the company has to make money some how.

Lets say, you play a free MMORPG, but classes and some characters are locked. Most people would get away from that. What if a dungeon would be locked for you? The same. They got so many skins now, so many boosts, so many wards, icons, emotes... I doubt many buy champions with money. Since, you get more champions from hextech boxes, that are worthless, but cheaper.

Look at runescape about 10% of the game is f2p the rest needs a membership. I just don't see your logic. And people still buy champs
