My friend believes the Jungle Role is worthless, I believe the opposite is true.

I have tried talking to him and explaining why it is a role but so far he hasn't found any good reasoning in my argument. So if you guys could give me advice to try and explain to him the role is there for a reason, that would be great. Had to repost originally put this in Player Behavior my bad.

Jungler is essential in the team when it comes to pushing the game into your favor heavily with ganking pressure and dragon control. One of the big roles to winning a game honestly when it comes down to it. When a jungler is able to take out overextending careless laners with the help of the their teammate. It pretty pushes it into their favor also could change the tide if behind in a game. Every role has their important part to the team in LoL. All gotta do their part to succeed.

Well the most important reason why there is a jungler in the team at least for me is the objective control things like the dragon and the baron are the 2 most important objective on the map the third one is the rift herald that your team has to secure in order to achieve the victory more easily. And the other thing is if there is 1 jungler your top is gonna be solo so he can farm up from the minions and the jungler from the jungle camps and both can get gold without taking away minions from each other and the jungler can help out other lanes with ganks to comeback or snowball the lane.

This is just my opinion

If it's any consolation, Dopa (mid lane main) says that jungle is the most important role and the lanes' jobs are to enable and play around the jungler.

Jungler is pretty important. Why do you think the jungler is the most flamed player on the team? It's because the entire team feels the effects of a terrible jungler.

Without the jungle role the game is a straight up "Am I better than you? Am I luckier than you?" fight. Jungle is what gives the game strategy and as such makes it arguably the most important role.

Tell that to Meteos.

So the role that influences the game the most is worthless.....your friend doesn't play the role does he?

If he did and had actual success he'd understand just how important junglers are in the game.

well, duotops are rare nowadays or it could be easily illustrated i had one recently and it was an easy win, my shyvana simply went unstoppable as the result

it's actually pretty simple, you don't even need to consider barons or dragons etc:

there are 3 lines and 5 players - 1 goes mid, 1 goes top, 2 go bot and the last one can either go jungle or go second top

the more people stand near dying minions, the less xp each of them gets, that's leaving aside that a lane has gold income only for one player (that's why support doesn't farm)

let's suppose we have a team where one has 2 guys sharing top and another has 1 guy top and another in the jungle

surely at first it will be hard to be 1 v 2, even if jungler ganks, but if you play safely farming at your turret pretty soon you begin to outscale each of those two guys by your level and by your gold; meantime the jungler can farm both jungles (and has a free dragon, unless their mid and bot try to secure it), jungle has almost as much gold and xp income as your whole lane and he has both of the jungles. pretty soon you and your jungler begin to routinely murder the enemy duo top and they can't really come back from it unless you make a grave mistake. their only chance to win it's to kill you fast and kill repeatedly afterwards and to hope that your jungler didn't stomp them late game with all the gold he gets meantime. their bot or mid if those are p. good can carry them of course, but it would be much harder to them to do it

hence why duotop has a high chance to lose and why jungler is important

p.s. in practice one of those who share a duotop eventually usually tries to farm their jungle after a while, but it is usually too late to them

It's the easiest role to win the game on. But it also requires a lot to be exceptional, so it's really dependant.

In a sub 30 game, it's much easier to just go top and do the same thing as a jungler. It's problably a lot easier just spam right clicking minions and killing people when they want to fight you in your minion wave.

When you hit gold? Best role in the game by far. No contest at all.

Junglers make efficient use of the gold and experience sources within the jungle, providing more gold for their team and allowing another ally solo experience and gold in their lane.

This is the primary reason for any and every team to have a jungler.

If you are looking for other reasons:

  • Junglers determine where pressure is applied on the map (ganking lanes, pushing towers, denying resources)
  • Junglers can roam the map and control vision (warding, clearing wards, Scuttle Crab)
  • Junglers can determine lane match-ups (shutting down opponents who counter your ally, letting your early-game ally snowball, forcing the enemy to disengage a favourable fight)
  • Junglers control objectives (i.e. towers, Dragon, Rift Herald, Baron)
  • Junglers can enable any ally to base or roam without wasting map resources (by holding their lane and preventing their opponent from leaving)
  • Junglers can enable or break frozen lanes
