Goodnight Gargoyle......We can only hope for Crab Guy
So Galio has been reworked, and I, along with many others I'm sure must have some mixed feelings on it. I haven't tried new Galio yet, so I won't say anything on that, but the entire rework list has gotten me to think about the fate of another one of my favorite characters in this game, Urgot.
Now: with the urgot there are a few things I want to put out there. Things I'm expecting from new urgot.
The Character Part of My Character
Urgot, in essence is an abomination. A gross ball of rotting limbs, and broken machinery. I see the new model for Urgot has been slipped out and while he does kind of have this "fat baby in a crib", thing going on, it looks like it's following close to that idea of urgot being an abomination of nature and machinery. ((He even got those new pair of legs he's been joking about for ages now. He's got SIX!)). On the subject of joking around, Urgot has this twisted sad misery to him you kind of can't help but enjoy. The way a lot of champions like
recommend death for him already, or how
tells him that they can't hang out now that he's "cool", is another part of urgot that I like. How urgot just seems so miserable all the time, but that isn't to say I want my Urgot to be a ball of misery building 6 or so
. Urgot, in his twisted disgusting form also has this sense of TERROR to him! He's scary in just how much of an ABOMINATION he is, and I want this to be captured in him!
TLDR; Make urgot still laughably miserable, but when I'm done laughing, I want to feel shivers and terror over the fact that I just laughed at him.
Gameplay
Now, I'm not sure how other urgot mains feel about how Urgot is supposed to play, ((Or if there are any other urgot mains for that matter)), but there are a few key elements to him I want to discuss. This also kind of ties back to the character aspect in a way. Urgot in lane early on is a BULLY! We may be laughing at him, but urgot can do some pretty frightening damage mid and early game. He can do lots late game too, but the fact that he's forced to pick one target most of the time hinders his ability to do damage late. The idea is, I personally typically take urgot bottom lane and use his passive strength, his Q damage, ((and the help of all you supports out there >_0*)), to try and abuse the enemy adc early on. I know he may not be super good at this job, or as good as other adc's are at it
, but the gameplay idea still stands. In the way his E-Q combo works, and how single target urgot is, I've developed this feeling that urgot's purpose is to completely shut out one guy! Urgot's job is to find one enemy and make them as miserable as he is by wittling them away with Q, slowing with W, and maybe even dragging them into the center of his team.
^Now, I know I'll probably get some flack for the stuff up here from urgot's who have a REALLY good idea of what urgot does, and I've probably been missing out on the point. If I'm messing up, go ahead and let me know, I'd like to really grow as an urgot before he goes ((if the new urgot gets the galio treatment)).
Reworks on the Whole
I'm kind of afraid Urgot will get the galio treatment. As in, galio lost a lot of his old abilities, or got some changed so much that they hardly function the same. New Galio looks like a very different champ from what he once was, and I'm a little worried urgot might get another drastic change in who he is. I understand why Galio got it. Galio was strong, but had some huge problems like an ult that could get completely shut down by some
, or Galios extremely weak mana pool and kind of uninteresting damage capabilities. Galios personality also wasn't SUPER fleshed out before and in short, Galio was only strong at specific points. He'd Q and wait around for Q to come back up. I understand the changes, but am a little disappointed that Galio lost a lot of what he was to me. Now, Warwick on the other hand! O BOY! I don't know how most warwick mains feel about his change, but from the looks of it, they just took everything warwick and made it MORE! Sure the ult stopped being point and click, BUT WATCHING A WARWICK FLY LIKE AN EAGLE ACROSS THE MAP AND HOLD SOMEONE DOWN!? BEAUTIFUL! Warwick's rework was probably one of the best reworks by far, keeping what made warwick what he was and amping that to 11! Now, what does this mean for Urgot. In short: I hope they don't remove his abilities for more interesting ones. I want them to keep the abilities he has and MAKE them interesting! I don't have any ideas, and if I did I certainly wouldn't want to make this wall of text any bigger. These are just my thoughts on reworks in general and I have faith that Urgot might be able to get away with a Warwick like rework and be as Crabby as ever!
TLDR 2: Dear Rito: Keep Urgot a gross Crabman who makes ONE other person as miserable as he is.
's Aura's to hell, removing
' s Armor Aura during the rework, changing
's hawkshot to not give bonus gold, etc. Those are three that quickly come to mind), you can probably kiss the passive goodbye.
Hope they keep Terrify somewhere on his kit. Ult needs a full redo.
And I believe that
's the only ADC that has a REAL shield (sorry
), so Riot will most likely play up the "defensive ADC" niche or dump it and go in a totally new direction. And i hope they keep the shield!
