Lets be real for the new-players sake

This post really shows how much of a hypocrite I really am, but honestly no matter how light hearted the ads are or how they bring back my fond memories, these still a massive issue.

SMURFS

back when I started playing league what i believe was back with illaoi's release, i hardly ran into smurfs, sure it happened. but it wasn't so bad.

I have made a minimum of 20 accounts as of now. and honestly, the games are far harder than a majority of my ranked games, and the difficulty isn't because of having low level players, most low level players hit at minimum a bronze 3 rating by lvl 15, but what makes the games so disgusting is how many GOOD smurfs there are, i run into people both far better and far worse than me almost game by game and with some games being insane.

And this is coming from someone whos at minimum gold level, someone whos level 6? level 10? this is just wrong, they can't even play and hell if I didn't engrave a "no leaving policy" into my head at lvl 20 i would leave at least half the games I play.

This doesn't even account for the lack of accessibility, the change in the tutorial and the change to start with high blue essence, was fu*king amazing! But when i need to hit level 15 to make a full rune page, the level disadvantage is immense.

these are some of my thoughts, but I personally believe that if you want more new players to stick you need to remove the summoner spell lock out, and the rune page lock out.

and aside from this, if league is going to promote a less competitive side in these ads, please let us play custom RGM again, some of my fondest memories are having absolutely no competitive environment in a friendly game playing full 5 atk speed kog vs 5 man braum wall and just generally enjoying my time.

For clarification, i've altered my play style on these accounts against the system, not much seems to change.

An fyi for anyone, is that Riot has a smurf detection system in place for low level accounts. It matches smurfs with other smurfs, and keeps new players with new players.

one of the teams that works on meta-game systems developed pretty good detection methods that quickly separate new players from experienced smurf accounts in the early levels. Not condoning smurfing but let's just be real.

If you are a brand new player and NOT smurfing you will lose your first couple games.(unless you get carried by a smurf)

After you lose your first couple games the odds of you actually going up against another smurf is very slim.

The lockout of summoner spells and runes and stuff makes no sense. They do it to I guess provide less options to confuse new players with but when champions are balanced around the power of keystones, its silly to lock them out.

The reason you only see smurfs is because you're a smurf yourself. The system pretty easily detects if you've played the game before and match you with other smurfs. Pretty much the only way to get the true new player experience is to be a completely new player, not a smurf.

You cant judge the new player experience. As a smurf, you play with other smurfs.

I cant really disagree. Heck, ive had to (on my smurf) play against a diamond yasuo, with smurfing friends of theirs. So 3 smurfs, a diamond, and a random enjoying a free win.

Yeah, smurfs do make it hard.... BUT the smurfs i do not mind are those that dont badmouth others just for being worse than what they might play at.

I actually left a obvious newbie alone as i just went for the smurf on their team. Im not out to ruin a new persons fun, heck i even help out with tips and playing with people if they want.

Not all smurfs are bad, but the asshole smurfs are.

Those damn smurfs... Not allowing me to smurf in peace and smash those noobs ><

Btw i think if rito just keeps banning people for dumbest shit possible amount of high skilled players on low elo accounts will surely diminish XD AHAHAHAHHA

just leveled this acc from 1-30 and i only met 1 genuine new player and that was in a co op for my daily win :^)

Well they are going to be implementing an email/account verification in the future, so this should curb some smurfs.

I don't think Riot's current policy on banning players at the drop of a hat is helping much.

Maybe if the meta wasn't so aids that you have to play certain champs to win outside of low elo most people wouldn't smurf as much. Not to mention most people actually smurfing and not just ranking a new account are doing it to chill and not have to care about lp so they still lose games.

Not just any type of smurfs. But also toxic ones that turn part if the new players into toxic shitholes as well.
