You cant really compare those two champions in diffeculity. Thay are so different from each other. With Leona is like you Said you are your teams engager and protecter. But you want them to focus you. One good engage with her can also leave your adc open. But whit sona you give your them powerfull auras that will protect and buff your team with the price to be really squishy. One miss step and you are dead. Or bad timed w power cord and adc is dead. Every champion is hard in its own way.

I have to agree with the other guy. I can only reliably use her passive to deal damage. It's kinda difficult. Leona is a lot more forgiving due to being tanks with pretty good cc.

Try a game of blitzcrank. You only need to understand one aspect of his kit. Q. There is nothing complex about him in anyway. Not saying Sona is all that difficult to learn but she isn't the easiest. Sona however has a bigger impact in late game which is why she tends to do better when people just pick her up. This is because she has the best scaling of any support in the game. The extra CDR she gets at 11 and 16 makes her a late game monster. Blitzcrank, on the otherhand, falls off later making it seem like he is harder to learn but in reality he's a lot easier.
