What is gold funneling?

Summoner's Rift has 4 sources of income:

Top lane minions
Middle lane minions
Bottom lane minions
Jungle monsters

Gold Funneling is when you take 2 of those sources of income and give them to 1 player.

Recently this has been done with MasterYi Jungle and Taric "Mid", where Yi takes both Jungle and Mid farm, as well as Karthus Mid and Nunu "Jungle", but it has been done in other setups.

If you really think about it, that's pretty much the same as bot/support has always been.

Major difference: Bot/Support is taking 1 source of income giving it to 1 player. Gold Funneling is taking 2 sources of income and giving it to 1 player.

It's when you feed all the gold into one player. Basically you have one carry and the rest of the team is stuff like supports meant to protect the carry and get them kills.

That's when a top or mid laner, usually a CC support, gives a carry jungler all the minions.

The simplest way to put it is giving two roles worth of gold to one person. Unlike Bottom and Support where one person gets no gold and the other farms, gold funneling is where you basically don't have a normal Mid Laner and instead have someone Jungling and then roaming Mid to clear the wave when it reaches the tower or whenever you pass through.

Some gold funneling strats even try to give 3+ roles worth of gold to one person, but that doesn't usually work as you get stretched thin easily.
