2:31 Riven : Does Volibear hard counter me?

240 Volibear First Blood

2:43 Riven _A Summoner Has Disconnected _

What do you do?

A. Give up.

B. Give up.

C. Give up.

D. You hold it out and hope that you can shut down Volibear late game.

Well, five minutes later, Riven Riven comes back, but she is obviously super behind. I, on the other hand, played Talon Talon and after dying once to Cassiopeia Cassiopeia, I proceed to tear her to shreds and go 3/1 pretty quickly.

Because Riven Riven is super behind, and Volibear Volibear is a motherfucking bear, Riven RIven proceeds to give him 3 more kills, so now he is super fed and Riven Riven is quite behind.

So, I offer a lane swap. I figure that, since I am pretty much ahead, and constantly killing this Cassiopeia Cassiopeia isn't going to help me too much, I decide to go top to try and calm down the bear, while Riven Riven goes mid to fight the (rather weak) Cassiopeia Cassiopeia. Also, bot lane is doing pretty damn good.

Up at top lane, I proceed to have my shit kicked in by VolibearVolibear. There is no way I can solo him, and he is just getting bigger. However, with a little help from the jungler, Riven is making a comeback. She is CSing decently, and she even got a kill.

We end up winning that game. I don't have an amazing score, but I definitely did pretty well. Riven, for being DC's for about 5 minutes, came back quite nicely and provided the CC the rest of our team needed to deal a ton of damage (and shut down the Volibear Volibear). So, the moral of this story is that if a lane isn't doing well, don't rage and flame them, even if it is a Riven. Offer to help, and hopefully, you can salvage that game.

Garen : Hey Azir, wanna lane swap? Don't worry, It's just a melee champ top. I can handle Leblanc mid.

Azir : Okay.

Azir goes top.

Azir So where's my opponent?

Riven (In bush): Oh look, a giant gold plated minion. Must be worth double CS.

Upvoting for awesome truth. Like really, they can be a top main and you a mid main, but a switch for them is not hard at all. All the other lanes its hard, but mid and top can do it easily. You should know how to fight against those champions anyways no matter what role because at some point in time you had to fight them late game.

Communication and cooperation wins games. Raging and flaming lose them. You can always tell the difference between those that want to win and those that want to lose.

Good call, I remember my game where I was zed mid and destroying my lane balanced champ [slayer-pantheon-thumbs] Anyways their mid laner dced like yours, as soon as they came back I started to duel their top lane and jg, but in the end they won because of this simple change. It's a good idea everyone and could possibly change the whole game. The worst part is that the change was messing up my build as I was going full ad then got greeted to a tank with a ton of armor already.

Riven is easy and op, trust me

kek, seriously though. I'd play Riven if I could learn the combos or knew what to do.

To be honest, Riven can fight Volibear on even terms unless Volibear is fed, it just requires playing safe early game since obviously his passive makes him pretty much unkillable even with ignite. In terms of mobility Riven wins by a huge amount since all Volibear has is his Q while Riven has 4 dashes so poking him down is fairly simple to do.

As a Riven main, sounds more like this player just didn't actually understand how to use his champion correctly in this match-up lol

I offer to lane swap all the time. If my midlaner is having trouble with a Vlad for example and I'm playing Wukong top, I would gladly switch. I get a free lane, my mid laner gets an easier lane. Win-win

PSA fuck you. i lane swapped with a nasus because he bitched about akali top

i ended up getting fucked by akali while he was useless mid against irelia anyway.

o, I offer a lane swap. I figure that, since I am pretty much ahead, and constantly killing this Cassiopeia isn't going to help me too much

never do this. Why? Because if the person is already feeding that hard it means they have no idea what they're doing and sending them to your lane will probably lead to either them feeding your lane as well or you getting crushed by the already fed enemy

DeathBurst1 votes

Well, obviously that's not what happened this time...

Left Hook Larry1 votes

Well obviously if you learned how to read you would read that OP said he got crushed when he swapped

DeathBurst1 votes

... and that the Riven got back into the game. And that they won in the end. So that still was the right decision and your "never do this" is misplaced.

Who needs to learn how to read, now?

Left Hook Larry1 votes

I said you should never do this because and you saw my reasons

He still got crushed and him winning had nothing to do with my point. He got lucky.

+1. Good read.

Similar story of mine:

In one of my recent matches, a friend and I duo'd (normals) and got mid and top. I chose Irelia, he chose GP, and the enemy chose Nasus and LeBlanc. Upon realising this, he offered me to go mid while he went top against the Nasus in champion select, allowing me to take runes suitable for the match-up (with flat MR) and Ignite.

In game, LB got into a level 1 trade with me, losing a lot of her health. At level 2, she poked me a bit, putting me at lower HP than her (along with minion damage). Then, she makes the mistake of standing close to a low-HP minions...First Blood.

Then game just rolled from there - proceeded to beat the tar out of the LB, while my friend held top against the Nasus. After killing mid outer (and Kha'Zix, who for some reason decided to try and defend an almost dead tower), went top and killed Nasus, helping my friend out.

We ended up winning the game quite handily, thanks to the both of us swapping out of disadvantageous match-ups.

I love those games where someone on the enemy team knows they're screwed if they play against you, so they lane swap, but you also lane swap, and you just keep going to the lane they're in and they tilt before the first teamfight. It's the best feeling.

I don't think i've ever heard of a Riven player coming back from a ragequit, let alone actually cooperating with her teammates and not flaming the fuck out of them while she's feeding.

JVP151 votes

Actually, the Riven didn't ragequit. It was more of an internet problem. This is the second time in a row that I have played with nice and friendly Riven players. Maybe we should get rid of the notion that all Riven players are toxic?

Nah. It is just far too fun to beat the dead horse.
