What is Riot doing about the Bot probelm?

We all know bots exist. In TT and Dominion it's pretty common for IP Grinding bots. But in the lower levels of play. Just... Good lord.

My nephew was interested in League when he saw me playing, so I offered to set him up an account and told him he could play at home too. He played a game or two while he was here. Went home and continued. When he came back over, I asked him how it was going. He told me he didn't want to play. Why? Bots. I had him play some co-op games so I could see what was up.

What I saw was pretty horrible. There were always atleast three bots on his team, most of which would either AFK or run around uselessly. The other 1-2 players were often smurfs. The bots made the game go on very long, and often if there wasn't a smurf he would lose.

Is this really how Riot wants new players to be introduced to the game? Unable to have meaningful interactions with their teams, unable to learn with other new players (Instead of having a Plat Smurf stomp everything) the bots proving to be useless sets the picture for what the actual game will be like. In a game like this it's important to have atleast some interaction with other new players. Not bots grinding to 30 to be sold on multiple sites for "Faster smurfing" or smurfs crushing the games as quickly as possible. The problem is even more serious in games like Twisted Treeline, Dominion or ARAM. At the very lowest levels it's filled with nothing but bots with a high likely hood of a smurf on the enemy team who will simply dominate the game.

I feel terrible that he had to experience league like this. And despite my best efforts I can't convince him that this isn't the game. But why should he have to suffer through the learning process of league, a process that should be fun and meaningful, when it's filled to the brim with bots and smurfs?

P.S: I mention smurfs alot and I guess I should change the title but the original point remains.
