AD itemization needs fixing.

First i want to point out im not talking about the ADC itemization but for those that should have AD but dont need AS/crit such asRiven Renekton Garen Pantheon and many more are left in a very bad spot.

Seriously AD itemization complete BS in so many ways.

Any of the champions i listed have to go into combat to do their damage how ever with the current lack of itemization there isn't a good way for any of them to build to be able to be useful in mid game team fights. Pantheon and riven both have to build damage but are then super squishy as hell when team fights start breaking out with 1-2 items completed. The fact they need to get close and personal to deal any kinda real damage they are asking to be blown up if they just completed item 3134 or item 3035. On the other hand renekton and garen do very little damage if all they have completed was a item 3068 or item 3143.

Now these champions are categorized into the "bruiser" class yet all AD bruisers are in a very bad spot that you are decent early game but once 3-4 items start getting completed you tend to either be to squishy or not deal enough damage comparetively to any one else.

As far as mid game items that a real bruisers has to build (providing both offensive and defensive stats) would be: item 3071 item 3022 item 3155. Now this leaves you with either a measly 200 health from black cleaver, I crappy frozen mallet which gives 89% value in stats or probably the best choice is hexdrinker.

If you compare this to possible AP bruiser itemization you would have :item 3027 item 3116 item 3136 item 3025 item 3157 item 3001 item 3174 item 3060.

Of the AP bruiser itemization i see 1 item i wouldnt want on nearly any champion and with AD bruiser i see only 1 i would want on most bruisers.

Its time we get a decent selection of itemization for AD bruisers again. we need a mid game item that will give AD + armor + a useful passive or active. Something that gives AD + a decent amount of health without being completely useless on 98% of champs.

AD champs don't need itemization. They already have the cheesiest and most unhealthy item in the game.

item 3153

+1 RITOPLS.

  1. They need to bring item 3044 back into item 3022's build. Take away the slow, lower the HP, whatever I don't care. As long as Phage builds into an efficient AD+HP item.
  2. Recreate a new AD+Armor item like Atma's. It doesn't need crit. It doesn't need to have ridiculous AD scaling with HP. Just make a simple, efficient AD+Amor item.

You don't need to build one whole item at a time.

Most bruisers that want to build a mix of AD and survivability in the early game build a Brutalizer then pick up a Warden's Mail/Glacial Shroud/Giant's Belt/Spectre's Cowl. They will often sit on Brutalizer until they finish their first tank item. They do this because the lane power spike of Brutalizer is insane, and the pen makes it scale well into the mid game by itself. The first tank item is generally very strong, because your opponents do not have pen items yet. Now, alternate ways this works include things like rushing a Tiamat into tank (Old Renekt style), or BF sword into tank.

But, all this also depends on what champion you are playing. So, looking at the four champion you are complaining about, I main two of them and know how the other two function. Lets start from the top: Riven does not build 'bruiser' she builds pure AD. She has an AD scaling shield, which means the more damage you do the stronger her tank abilities are. Most of the time she rushes Hydra and Last Whisper, because AD/Lifesteal/Pen are her core stats, and it gives her more burst in her combo.
Renekton normally builds one offensive item, then pure tank. He used to always build Hydra, but now he is building BotRK in some matchups. He does this because his ultimate provides tank stats into the mid game. His ult lets him survive early-mid burst damage while dishing out a ton himself. As the games goes on, he needs the tank stats to survive the burst damage. Hence, full offence item->tank. Garen normally builds a Brutalizer into full tank. The Brutalizer gives him the CDR he really wants, and the pen to make his very high base damage silence and spin deal a ton of early and mid game damage. After that, he just builds tank. His initial damage falls off, yes. But his ultimate, which scales on enemy health, ALWAYS deals a ton of damage in fights. This means that he always remains relevant.
Pantheon is the strangest on the list, because he has so damned many viable build paths. I won't get into specifics, because he is super matchup and team comp dependant, but Pantheon's gimmick is that he doesn't need tank stats for most of the game to be stupidly hard to kill. When you play him assassin style, you build 3+ damage items straight out to abuse his absurd AD ratios (HSS alone has a 3.6 AD ratio!!) and rely on your passive to block enemy damage and turret shots. When you play him bruiser style, he builds similar to Reketon. He builds damage early to be able to explode people before they get defencive stats and relies on his passive, then he transitions into tank stats so he can dive into enemy backfields and not die to mages.

tl:dr Build part of a damage item (Brutalizer, Hexdrinker, whatever) then a tank item. Or, use the innate tankyness of your champion to get you into mid game and just build a full damage item before transitioning into a tank build.
