Riot please relook at your bruiser itemization

This games AD itemization is crap for every non ranged auto attack champ. This really becomes relevent when you compare the usefulness of the AP versions of these items. One of the best ways to compare items is gold effeciency

First when comparing health + offensive items you have item 3022 item 3071 item 3078. Of the AD versions you can practically rule out BC and tri force as defensive items because the low amount of health on them makes them nearly to marginal to justify as defensive. So you are left comparing item 3022 to item 3116 or item 3027 (leaving out a few that give 200-300 health because its to minor to consider as bruiser type items) . Now item 3022 has a surprisingly low base stat cost effectiveness of 89.3%. item 3116 has gold efficiency of base stats of 111.76%. So 2 items with very similar passives have over a 20% difference in gold efficiency. item 3027 although gives mana has a cost efficiency of 121.6% when unstacked without passives grows to 170.5% gold efficency when fully stacked. The item 3027 also has a gold efficiency of 124% when not counting mana at full stacks.

item 3191 and item 3157 are AP + armor. There is nothing that gives AD and armor. Infact since the removal of atma impalar there isnt even an option to build armor and any combined offensive stat. Lets go back to seekers and zhonyas gold effeciency though. item 3191 becomes gold effective at 3 stacks. Then continues to become upto 147.5% effective. This means this makes an outstanding mid game item for mages who have to worry about AD threats but still need to build offensively enough to do meaningful damage. item 3157 however fully built has a gold effeciency of 110% WITHOUT the strongest defensive passive in the game. This passive can be so strong that it can demolish certain champions who are dependent on getting off a certain spell such as veigars ult, malph ult, ect.

Finally when comparing AP + MR compared to AD + MR the options are item 3155 item 3156 item 3139 compared to item 3001 and item 3174 This section has nearly the closest usability because item 3155 is actually rather gold effective at 103.4% without the passive. when upgraded though to item 3156 the base stats only add up to a 92.5% gold efficiency. item 3001 however has a gold effciency of 103% without the aura. If you are playing a short range champ who doesnt have much choice but to get into melee range like akali, annie, or LB then this item becomes somewhere near 20% extra per champion you are hitting with each spell/teammate hitting them with spells.

By gold efficiency in every category of hybrid of offensive/defensive AP beats out AD. Most passives are arguably better on the counter part type items on AP type items such as item 3116 and item 3022 being nearly identical in passive abilities or item 3157 haveing an infinately better active then item 3139.

TL;DR: AD bruiser items need to be brought in line with their AP counterparts. (yes this comes from a bruiser main but the numbers dont lie that itemization favors AP over AD)

The removal of Atma's impaler was said to be because Atma's was too bad.

Then why not remove Ohmwrecker or the numerous other trash items lol?

The real reason: it was an over 100% gold efficient item for autoattacking bruisers that gave both AD and Armor. Can't have that can we? It was the core of the Atma's Ghostblade bruiser Yi build that carried me to gold 1 last season which allows you to have Master Yi with 265 AD, 30% crit, 2.5 attack speed, on hits from BoRK, Flare and E, armor pen, 2700 HP, 150 armor and 100 MR with the BoRK, Flare, Ghostblade, Atmas, Tabis and Banshees build - the cheapest full build (assuming 200 gold earned per avarice blade, it was completable for 12000, which is a 4 slotted ADC build, allowing you to hit the 6 item power spike way before anyone else), every item more than 100% gold efficiency snowbally Yi build that lets you blow up carries late game while facetanking autos and dodging every skillshot they throw at you.

Now Yi is forced to either build full glass, which is extremely hard without snowballing on the new jungle budget, or build bruiser with just devourer and BoRK, in which case he can't melt late game carries and still get popped in 3 seconds.

Atma's was actually really good on not just Yi, but also Nocturne, Xin and other autoattacking melees that built Ghostblade and at least 1 HP granting tank item. 70 AD, 20 arpen, 45% attack speed, 45 armor and 30% crit is huge for blowing up carries for the price of IE + pickaxe.

"AD bruiser items" mostly don't exist. item 3074 is pretty much the only AD item that is designed for bruisers to use (item 3071 was designed for AD casters and assassins). The general idea with bruisers is that they buy mostly defensive items, and rely on their kits to deal the damages.

Riot doesn't want to build items that scale offensive power with defensive stats, or vice versa, because of the disaster that was season 2 metagolems.

Riot doesn't make any good AD/armor items because they really hate how such items snowball bruiser lanes. With mages, you'll notice they nerfed the AP/MR item too, and for similar reasons. With bruisers, it's worse, because bruisers have such reliable kits; bruiser lanes devolve to statistical contests far more frequently than mage lanes.

Mallet sucks because it's a toxic item when it's good. People often imagine it as a solution to ranged champs kiting, but it turns out to really be best used to destroy melee-melee interactivity.
