Why is AP-MF not a viable support

Silver 1 (gold hope) support main here. Sometimes I play ADC and I'm a MF one trick pony. I thought I combine the two. I have been trying it in ranked and it seems to me that this is a legit way to go (barring all the flaming I get).

Here is my theory crafting - MF needs to be played as a poke support whose intention is to snowball the game hard

  1. MF excels at proc's with her E which makes her an extremely gold efficient support. I usually end up with a significant portion of gold ahead of my other supports
  2. MF is an extremely safe poker; her E has a huge range and her w provides insane movement speed. You can always chunk players for a bit really safely
  3. MF CAN provide CC. Rylais is a must. This item will provide slow and increase the amount they stay under E
  4. Insane Ult damage: MF wrecks with fighting comps. I have a couple of triple kills in ranked with her

CONS: The main cons of this strat

  1. No hard CC- obvious
  2. Extremely reliant on snowballing: if you are behind it gets hard to pull off
  3. No actives for the ADC, if you deviate from the build path you are not very helpful
  4. People flame; doesn't matter if you prove to them you are not trolling. If you lose, regardless of your performance prepared to be flamed

Items *Spell thief and pots *Get sightstone and upgrade the spell

  • CDR boots
  • Not sure yet if the spooky ghosts are worth, given the slot efficiency of the wanderer - still in progress..
  • Rylais
  • Mejais (you can't die)
  • Banner/ Lich Bane/ Luden are potential lasts

Masteries : Thunderlords. and everything that gives you gold for aa or seeing minions die

Runes: Hydrid Pen - poke in laning phase is crucial Mvs Quints- gotta go fast

I would like for somebody that is echelons above me to tell me why this is wrong. Two things that I would like to point out *I have give this some thought and it is somewhat working in ranked (not my highest win % but still >50%)

*Zilean support got me out of bronze when nobody thought he was a support charach

Thanks

Hey, diamond Miss Fortune main here (formerly the 88th best Miss Fortune worldwide. Don't ask about my current ranking). This thread is fucked Haha

Because a support means someone who can save you from dying.

MF cant stun a zed if he ults your adc MF cant knock away a volibear if hes flying at your adc

stuff like that. I know adc supports are pretty common now but eh... stick with what works i dont think MF supp will work in gold +

You sometimes see AP Miss Fortune in ARAM games, with Liandry's Torment and Luden's Echo, she wave clears okay, but that's all she does. You really play a champion with only one single spell, and unless you want to clear minions waves, AD Miss Fortune does everything else better, and E is still a slow.

This, right here is why she isn't.

The whole and only thing MF gives as support is killing power, making her not a support but a kill lane, but unlike the most famous kill lanes (Annie, Brand, Velkoz, etc), she has ADC-like starting stats and she has basically zero utility as a support (her bullet rain is okay as an utilit...for an ADC).

All you're giving is more killing power, and if you manage to get a few kills, sure, you might be useful, but if you lose the lane, or hell, go even, you will be a famished subpar support.

After rank 2 in her E, the E provides more slow than rylais so you don't gain any particular benefit from it beyond the stats (as slows don't stack). It'd make your Q and ult slow sure, but that's pretty limited since E is your bread and butter.

There's been a lot of buffs to AD mf (including that her ult can crit), and her E's been nerfed as well since AD MF was getting too reliable thunderlord procs off it, so AP mf is just a relatively weak poke support with no hard cc who will fall off really hard late due to her poor scalings.

I used to do AP MF support for fun every now and then with a fair amount of success so it isn't/wasn't totally useless, but there are plenty of better choices for a poke support that can provide more CC and scale better into late game.

Not a bad idea but she scales really bad with AP compared to AD, Rylais is ok, but I would leave it at that for AP
