Be Carefull In Champ Select

apparently my other post wasn't long enough and was deemed "low effort" so I will put more into this post (if the player in question has other valid reports, than the ban is deserved. However i see nothing wrong with the game provided)

the post https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/8nmW0cNT-banned-for-taking-ghostcleanse-strategically

the riot statement https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/8nmW0cNT-banned-for-taking-ghostcleanse-strategically?comment=00110000

A player was banned for stealing a champion and playing with certain summoner spells. so lets get this ball moving!

  1. first off you cannot "steal" something that does not belong to someone else (riot owns everything and you are just borrowing it)
  2. if multiple people want to play the same champion, whoever is first in pick order gets it. 3.if picking a certain combination of summoner spells is "trolling", then riot needs to prohibit those being picked together OR send a warning out saying so, so that we can avoid this "trolling"

"riots statement" as told by keyru You went into Champ Select as Top pick and after ban phase decided to take your Jungler's hovered pick and IMMEDIATELY switch to Ghost/Cleanse. Not only this, you don't type at all during this time to your teammates and then type "dance mid" afterward not showing any intent to try to win this game.

  1. say it with me "pick order"
  2. a gross offence of switching summoners spells immediately after locking in your champion. would it have been better if he did it slowly/waited at the last second and hope the client doesnt bug out?
  3. not typing is punishable? lets look at some of the chat logs [2019-02-11 18:02:50 PST] Teammate 2: we report them [2019-02-11 18:03:04 PST] Teammate 2: we report, dw [2019-02-11 18:03:06 PST] Teammate 2: 2 bans [2019-02-11 18:03:07 PST] Trolled Teammate: this guy took my rengar and is inting [2019-02-11 18:03:14 PST] Teammate 2: but u pick soraka and int too [2019-02-11 18:03:14 PST] Teammate 1: you guys can both take a fat ban [2019-02-11 18:03:18 PST] Teammate 2: u reported as rwell [2019-02-11 18:03:28 PST] Teammate 2: 2 bans [2019-02-11 18:03:31 PST] Teammate 2: will be a worth loss

these are all "before" the accused said a word in the chat. so far we have 3 different people being hostile/impolite/harrasing their teammate. I, myself would not want to talk to these teammates. this person did however [2019-02-11 18:03:38 PST] Ozu: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGOOOOGOO "this is deemed "griefing" because you want people to dodge" Truck yeah, if this was me, i would want someone to dodge, look at these friendly teammates(i myself dont dodge games, but this game might have been an exception for me) [2019-02-11 18:03:38 PST] Teammate 3: I've had 2 remakes [2019-02-11 18:03:40 PST] Teammate 3: and 4 dodges [2019-02-11 18:03:42 PST] Teammate 3: please [2019-02-11 18:03:43 PST] Teammate 3: not again [2019-02-11 18:04:00 PST] Teammate 3: someone dodge [2019-02-11 18:04:01 PST] Teammate 3: ffs [2019-02-11 18:04:14 PST] Ozu: dance mid [2019-02-11 18:04:14 PST] Teammate 2: nah [2019-02-11 18:04:14 PST] Ozu: gogo someone else also wishes someone dodges followed with ffs the person in question replies with dance mid and gogo a teammate disaproves of the dance and says nah(seeing as how these were posted at the last second, the person could have been saying nah to the ffs)

the game loads now looking at this game we can tell some tried harder than others to play it out. no champions were killed only 1 person dealt damage to champions (twisted fate) only 3 wards were placed (nami mvp) 149 cs farmed on the red side the jungler/support got 62 cs the "offender" got 79 cs the next highest cs was 4 cs with the game ending a little over 8 minutes it is safe to say the majority of the team gave up and let the other team win

so where did the offence take place? the player choose a champion, picked summoners, played the game (level 7, with 79 cs) and lost. is there anything in game he could have done differently to win this game? i believe the answer is no.

so what did we learn from all of this? dont hover champion in champ select, you could get someone banned if someone else fell in love with the champion you wanted to play.

feel free to discuse this. if i got anything wrong, please let me know so i can update/fix this.

We all experience trolls. You have to get over it and don't ever start trolling when you are being trolled.

Do i think that Riot should implement harsher punishments for trolling? Yes, especially in ranked. But, at this point, we can do nothing but be positive in future games, hoping that we won't get matched with a troll.

Edit: I seem to have missed a few points:

first off you cannot "steal" something that does not belong to someone else (riot owns everything and you are just borrowing it)

So? It's still a dickish behavior to take a champion someone else hovers, because you "don't feel they are good at it" or some shit.

if multiple people want to play the same champion, whoever is first in pick order gets it.

Yeah, that's why you have lobby chat, it's to resolve those issues. Some people refuse to use it though, and are picking champions simply to piss off others

if picking a certain combination of summoner spells is "trolling", then riot needs to prohibit those being picked together OR send a warning out saying so, so that we can avoid this "trolling"

It's not trolling, and you know it. That guy was banned for toxic behavior, not for taking off meta spells

Trolling is never defined as any one action, but the intent behind the action.

You don't get banned for feeding, but if you feed with the intent of making your own team lose then it's against the rules.

You don't get banned for using Anivia wall, but if you use it to intentionally disrupt your own team then it's against the rules.

You don't get banned for picking ghost+cleanse and choosing their intended pick. But if you do that with the intent of pissing them off and/or to troll the team then it's against the rules.

The OP in that thread deleted the thread then attempted to stir up trouble by claiming that a Riot employee took it down. If the explanation by the Riot employee and their past history (the OP already had a 14-day ban in the past for trolling) wasn't enough this should make it clear what kind of player they were.

As someone stated earlier, people complain that there are too many trolls running around. Riot exposes one and suddenly people want to start defending the troll.

Makes zero sense whatsoever, especially when said troll has a history of it and lied about what happened to fit his narrative.
