as the title says, champions specific starting items and jungle items would bring diversity to the game.

i understand that champion specific items would complicate things and some people would prolly not like it too much but i believe since it's only starting items and jungle items it would still be simple and easy enough for people to understand.

as for me, someone who has played league for years, i feel that more diversity is important to me because i only like certain champs and only being able to play them in 1 single roles has been getting boring. i feel that i want league to last many years and based on what i've seen from other players i am not the only one who feels this game needs more diversity. that is why i feel that something like champion specific starting items can be necessary even if it means it will take a while to get used to.

here's some ideas for what can be done, i'll try to keep it short.

  1. mages bot lane starting items. how the item works: gain additional stats while near someone on your team who has a support item. the stats can be be additional mana regen, or ability power, or cooldown reduction.

when someone with a support item is not near you, you lose the stats and the item becomes weaker than a doran's ring. this way mages mid lane wont build this item because the support might roam mid.

the amount of stats it grants must be different for some champions in order to allow more than just a select few mages go bot lane.

after 14 mins, when the turret plating falls, the item turns into a normal doran's ring. this way mages wont feel that they have to go bot lane for additional stats throughout the game. the item is just meant to get your through laning phase, that's it.

this is why i feel that i like turret plating because it feels like it has presented us with an opportunity to come up with ideas like this.

  1. bruisers bot lane. the items grants additional stats while near someone with a support item on your team. the stats can be additional health regen or whatever they need. turns into a normal doran's blade at 14 mins after turret plating falls.

  2. adc's mid lane. the starting item grants additional stats while someone with a support item is not near you. if you are alone for a long enough period of time your stats will decay slower when your support roams to you. this item should be designed in a way that does not cause adc's bot lane to feel that they hope their support roams alot just so they gain additional power. turns into a normal doran's blade at 14 mins.

  3. champion specific jungle items. this does not apply to every single champion in the game, only to champions that struggle in the jungle.

grants additional stats that helps with jungle clear if they need it or some other stats that will help with other things, whatever they need.

maybe loses the additional stats at 14 mins, or at least some of it.

it would be cool if riot added some sort of crit jungle item.

i don't want to make the game too complicated or too hard to understand. you don't have to like these ideas. i understand that these ideas have flaws but i didn't feel like getting into the details on how to fix them to keep this post as short as i can. but i do feel that more diversity can be good for this game and its future. i want this game to last many years and i feel that more diversity would be very good for this game and i see that a lot of people who play this game want more diversity too.

I think champion specific starting items would be a huge mess and would complicate everything SO badly and make early game start up a nightmare. Remember back when relic shield and ancient coin was being misused and required a really annoying change to ALL support items that messed with supports who were using it as intended? It was awful.

I have a problem with the mage bot lane item and it's mostly because full on mages bot lane is already a fucking nightmare to have to deal with, I don't want Ahri and Brand bot lane. There's a god damn reason I don't play mid lane.

Also just "Item gives bonus stats when near/not near supports" pretty much just make the normal starting items pointless. Ad damage dealers would all hop on that bonus stat item for being away from a support item and would have to get changed a lot or just flat out removed.

I also think you, like a lot of other people, have forgotten that they already tried to do this before. It's called item 1083 . Guess how many people use it? Pretty much no one. I heard that it still is kinda a viable pick for champion with good attack speed like jinx or twitch just because they can make use out of on hit healing as opposed to life steal % but I've yet to really see that item past the year it was introduced. I fear that that item soon might get...

Culled

I do however kinda agree with jungle items. The current jungle items just feel weird on certain CLEARLY jungle champions like Kindred, Ivern, and Shaco.

Kindred: Should I really go damage and cdr or just focus on on hit procs? Attack speed and procs are really good but then I have no base damage which means my spells also really don't do a lot

Ivern: I can't use life steal vs jungle monster or health over time when hurting jungle monsters because I can't hurt jungle monsters. Also runic echo is clearly the right choice for enchantments but I don't get the mana part because I CAN'T HURT JUNGLE CAMPS

Shaco: I want red smite but honestly runic echoes does nothing for me if I go ap and if I go ad, I want crit, not pure damage and cdr.

The only issue is it's kinda like putting a bandage on a bullet wound. There is clearly a bit more of an issue than what you're covering up. Not going for the root of the issue "The jungle items don't all benefit champions we designed especially to be junglers" and instead putting a small patch on each individual affected by it means that any other champion they release to interacts with jungle in a weird new way means they will then have to design a brand new item and hope that it's balanced well to make him able to jungle better. Also ANOTHER issue is how can you tell when it's the jungler, or the item that's the problem? That champion is the only one that uses that item so you can't compare it to other champions and if they had a spike in win rate or not, because of the item. It's just more general balance mess that clutters the game and what's really important that you would be causing more problems rather than fixing them.
