Detecting Auras

I played a Thresh game recently and there was a Cho' Gath building a item 3110 frozen heart. He juked me and one of my teammates by flashing over a wall and hiding in a bush. I didn't realize he was in a bush until I saw the frozen heart debuff on my debuff bar. This alerted me to his presence in the bush and I almost hooked him in time before he recalled. Is this supposed to happen? Also now that I know of this I will be exploiting it to snowball my team into winning.

Yeah this is normal, it used to work on Fiddle's old passive too.

interesting, learn something knew even after having so much experience in league, i always though that raduins was the aura passive and frozen heart was an on hit debuff when being struck..... looks like i have to do some studying again

Heh, it's pretty ironic that Fiddle is not meta now at all even though he had an old passive that was a dead giveaway to his location. Actually, I don't even know how his old passive worked so I can't say now that I think about it....

fiddles old passive was like abyssals old passive, it passivly lowered MR without hitting until they changed it to only work on hit

Cool!

It was just reduced mr for enemies near him. If he was near a lane the minions would get the debuff so you could tell if he was in a bush waiting to ult or something.

Wait, I FORGOT ABOUT ABYSSAL SCEPTER IT WORKS FOR THAT TOO. EXPLOITS!

They really should make it work so that if you don't have vision the debuff is invisible to you.

Several items & kit mechanics that used to have auras did that. But riot removed them, because people don't always pay attention to details, like map awareness.

I mean to be fair should you really get an advantage for not knowing something or not having vision? Riot originally removed auras because they were too passive. But at the same time for debuff auras it also give the enemy knowledge with no vision which is counter intuitive. If you know the game it makes sense, but without having a pretty solid grasp on every mechanic its hidden things like this abused in pro play and the reason aura debuffs are stayed away from in pro play unless they are strong enough to warrant having.

Which just shows their double standards, given their more recent problem children . . . Camille Fiora Graves Katarina Poppy Quinn Tristana Yasuo Zac Zed . . . each were made or changed to have some kind of hidden passive mechanic, that unless you click on them to view their stats or previously know how they work; are going to blindside most people.

I suggest that if the bush was warded, you should also see whatever debuff aura they have; but no if it's not revealed. And you're spot on about those pro games.

Some very intellectual conversation going on here. Good! That's why I made this post.

Unfortunately not enough on the boards, and thank you.
