Why is this game so hard to balance?

League of Tanks. League of assassins. Duskblade in 2k17 ADC in 2k17. League of Support rushing Ardent. ADC in 2k18.

There always have to be something broken each few patches. Why can't the game be balanced for everyone?

Because its an asysmetric game which are always harder to balance than symetrical games. And since both teams cant have the same comps ie pokemon.

140 champions 190 items Different builds ( Trinity --> Steraks is going to yield different spikes than Steraks ---> Trinity for Frozen Mallet ---> Trinity ) Different timings (backs, jungle clears, etc.) Different skill levels Different "Meta's"

Hmm... I'm not trying to be mean, but can you really not figure this out for yourself? Like, really? I'll explain this super super super super simple.

More variables = Hard balance Less variables = Easy balance Just like in laboratory settings- the less variables you have in your experiment, the easier it is to consistently tell if your hypothesis is correct. That's why fighting games with less characters are far easier to balance, whereas fighting games with vast pools see clear tiers. It should not be surprising whatsoever, but you asked so there is your answer.

140 champions.

Fucktons of items.

90000+ possible rune combinations.

That's why it's not possible to balance it.

1.) Lots of champions 2.) Lots of items 3.) Huge differences in skill level among players 4.) Huge differences in solo Q vs coordinated play 5.) Having to adjust the game because players are more experienced now than in season 1 6.) Need to keep the game new and fresh to ensure that it doesn't become boring

I could go on and on but those are some of the bigger reasons. #6 is one that people usually don't think about when it comes to the balance team but it's actually a huge HUGE HUGE factor.

140 Champs millions of players. Korea meta is dif from NA meta. Dif ranks have dif best champs

Because half of the "League of.... xy...." is just a self-fulfilling-prophecy.

It´s imho not data-based but a result of reporting-bias wich leads in a loop to the result wich was claimed before.

And this will happen everytime. There is absolutely no chance for any constellation in wich everyone would agree to a ** "there is NO meta"**.

So. Biased in every perspective.

The first step in balancing this game is not paying attention to the endless hate train on the Boards here.

It's not hard to balance, but the balance team goes home and plays their favorite OP shit, so they are not going to come to work the next day and nerf their favorite freelo champ.

if u think that mobas are already unbalanced due to blue and red sides being unbalanced...rest comes easy

Because if balanced was the only goal for the game, it would be quite boring. Not to say i like living in this ADC meta where tanks are picked because they're the only ones who can realistically deal with them late game.. But its not as even as chess.

because damage is too high. and as long as they insist on absurd damage, abalnce goes out the window

i mean if we reach the point where 1 basic ability can kill someone, how are u going to balance that.

frankly we are also there
