First Game of Ranked - Weird Team Match-ups?

So I played my first game of ranked today (so I'm unranked at the moment) but it seems that I was paired up with high silver / low gold players. What is the reason for this? In my first ranked game I was paired with a team consisting of:

• Unranked (Me)
• Silver II
• Silver III
• Gold V
• Gold V

And we were against a team consisting of:

• Silver II
• Silver II
• Silver III
• Gold IV
• Gold V

Isn't this unfair for the my team and myself? Could someone explain the process please ^^?
