Much needed QOL improvements!

Out here in the world a lot of the work I do is in software and systems development and I have seen the huge power of smart interfaces in making users happier and smarter with the tools. While you guys have done awesome improvements there are some serious user friendliness issues with the interface and customization tools.

Here are some recommendations, allow players to:

  • Change the order of rune pages and mastery pages so we can organize them by category. This has been asked many times.

  • Assign some visual uniqueness to each rune and mastery page as viewed on champ select, this could be done by allowing players to select an icon to be displayed with each page, or pick a color, or just something other than just text to make it easier to spot if you have the wrong pages selected. I have been in countless games where someone is angry saying "I have the wrong pages, damn, I thought I had set the right one." There has to be away to improve clarity.

  • Assign rune/mastery pages as the "default" for a champion on a per champion basis. You can still change it in champ select, but if you select a champion and the defaults have been assigned it would automatically be set to that.

  • Be able to customize the "default" item page for champions in-game and have it be saved on the server side, this would be done by moving that feature into an in-game configuration menu item, like hotkeys. A lot more people would use it then and it would resolve the issue with players losing those customization settings because they had to reinstall and didn't back up the files (happened to a lot of people I know).

  • Have another customizable way to view champions in champ select, where we can assign champions to different groups. It would make it a lot easier for players that own most or all champions to visualize their pool of champions in smaller groups when choosing a champion. This would lead to less panic picks which is a cause of toxicity.

  • Let us see if our loading screen is still loading or frozen by adding some animation to it. This has been asked many times and it seems silly we're still staring at a loading screen that seems stuck and can't tell if it's frozen or just loading.

  • Display a 3d model of skins along with the splash art in the shop. It's annoying to have to google it to see the actual model, this would probably improve skin sales too.

  • To see links to the league wikia page for champions in their champion page for the out of match interface. The built in champ pages don't have a lot of important info and this would help new players know where to look for more details.

  • Last but most important, during champ select for solo/duo queue, once a player locks in a champion make them also select a tag for the position they're planning on going with it and then make it display by their champion (mid, top, jun, supp, bot). One of the most common, and avoidable, issues in champ select that leads to toxicity is people not calling out where they're going or people not seeing it in chat (often because people are spamming other things) or being confused by an off meta pick and then someone ends up locking something for a position that was already taken. Forcing players to make it clear where they're going would really help the community.

Thanks for reading!

Also:

  • Add a notification of what a friend's previous name was when they changed name. It's frustrating having to ask your friend whether or not they changed their name and it's kinda embarrassing if the answer is "no".

  • Add in the ingame chat the name of the champion behind the player name on the announcements. Currently: Dr Poro is on a killing spree. Should be: Dr Poro (Annie) is on a killing spree. It's annoying when you have to look back to the scoreboard to see which champ Dr Poro is playing. This also counts for multikills, first blood, shut downs, etc.

  • Add the ability to lock out after locking in when the others haven't locked in yet (for example in draft pick if the player picking with you hasn't locked in yet). Name can be changed to "ready" and "unready".
