Nunu: Lackluster Late game?

Just a quick change on his passive and his Blood Boil (W), and maybe he'll be seen a little more often? I suggest something along the lines of the following that can be read further ahead. First off is his passive.

Passive: After 5 basic attacks, Nunu's next ability costs no mana. Each basic attack replenishes 1/2/3% of Nunu's mana to himself, and his surrounding allies receive half of this mana.

Why?: This will play a similar role to his current passive, except slightly improved. Loss on mana when using higher mana abilities, but with being able to essentially go past 5 hits if Nunu players are not wanting to cast at that time, will top off his mana. Not to mention it will help his support role out for very mana intensive champions. Example: Nunu's base mana at 18 is 998. A 3% mana gained per hit would equate to 29.94, or 30 mana gained on hit and 15 for his allies. With a Rod of Ages/Iceborn Gauntlet, or both, he would gain 50/65 on hit to himself and 25/32.5 to his allies, respectively. Thoughts?: Should this be applied as an AoE aura instead that allows his allies to autoattack and gain mana? You tell me!

With that, we move onto the Blood Boil (W).

Blood Boil (W ): ~~Active: Nunu invigorates an ally and himself, increasing the target's and his attack speed and movement speed for 12 seconds.~~Active: Nunu invigorates all allied champions around himself, increasing the affected target's movement speed, armor, and magic resistance for 4 seconds.

Why?: Currently, this really only helps attack speed based champions (your marksman) and sometimes other specific champions (Elise, Teemo, etc.) This change would work very well into his kit. It allows for a tanky Nunu to give his allies a little quick stimulant for a team fight for engaging, chasing, or fleeing. The values would be something along the lines of: 5/7.5/10/12.5/15 Armor and Magic Resistance (flat) with a 5/6.25/7.5/8.75/10% Bonus Armor and Magic Resistance (scaling). The Movement Speed would change from 8/9/10/11/12% to 10/11.25/12.5/13.75/15%, while the attack speed would be completely removed. The cooldown would stay the same. This would change the current blood boil's slight buffs with little downtime to a stronger team buff with longer downtime. Thoughts?: Does it not last long enough? Does it last TOO long? Is the armor and magic resist too weak? Should it be a total damage mitigation like Alistar's ultimate, but much weaker, and a fairly long cooldown (40 seconds)? You tell me!

Both are really bad ideas honestly.

That passive basically would mean support nunu and his partner would never not be oom in lane and he'd be able to give every blue without a second thought in the jungle, and that shift in W gives him far to much strength in groups as it's basically a mini-Maokai ult as a basic ability with no where near the mana cost, and it removes the wonderful ability of Nunu to just pop into lane when an opponent had to B and shred their towers, hurting his objective control on everything but drag and baron.

Nunu is actually in a really good spot right now since he has that really strong objective pressure in laning, ability to get your marksman or mid back into the game if they had a rough time with ease because of infinite slows with E, he can't drag at level 3 anymore, but he can still steal it like no ones business, cinderhulk is great, etc. He's picked a lot in pro play recently IIRC because of all those reasons, he doesn't really need anything.

This is coming from someone who isn't high ELO or anything, but Nunu is one of, if not my favorite champs and I play him quite a bit

Nunu is the highest win rate jungler in the game.

Go mid lane with Nunu

Build straight up AP

Watch the tears of your enemies flow as your ult destroys everything.

that is highly unlikely with the tank jungle meta coming back most if not all tank's i imagine have a knock up that remvoes nunu from his ult cancelling it, trust me i love the 3300 damage nunu ult and 1200-1300 snowball but like i stated it is too easy late game to knock him out of his ult.

@BluePolarizer: Nunu definitely doesn't have the highest win rate right now. With the addition of cinderhulk, there are much better junglers than Nunu as it stands.

@Shadow Gilgamesh: You're thinking too hard into it and not thinking of the obvious. If they have a Nunu, Nunu has to auto-attack to get the mana for allies. This means that if you want mana, you have to trade pushing the lane a little bit. May not sound like a lot, but if you want to restore about 100 to 200 mana, you'll have to get off quite a few auto-attacks. Pushing your lane can really be bad and good, depending on the situation, but early it can usually just open you up to easy ganks. They'd be constant, too. Another thing to mention is that Nunu has to "melee" a unit. If he's obviously coming in to regen mana via auto-attacks, he'll have to trade some of his health for his mana in trades. It's a good ability that has drawbacks. Also, it's no where near a mini-maokai ultimate. Maokai reduces damage by a whopping 20% for 10 seconds. Compared to a slight armor and magic resist buff with a bit of speed for 4 seconds, they're not even comparable. Maokai's ultimate does 20% regardless if you're AP, Tank, or tanky AP. For this ability to be strong, Nunu has to build tanky.

These key points weren't touched in your post, so I'm just bringing them up. Another thing, yes the current state of his W does help "a little" with taking towers when it comes to an ADC, but having a more team oriented skill will push players to prefer team fighting and grouping over small skirmishes and such. This will promote team pushing, which is better in most ways. You still have the speed, you just trade the slight attack speed for resistances.

Nunu, as it stands, is mostly just a very strong counter-jungler. Yes, AP Nunu does exist, but his damage outside of his E cooldowns is non-existent except for his ultimate, which he has to charge for it to be very strong. I understand that an AP Nunu's ultimate can wipe out a team, but that's a very niche play style that is very inconsistent. In the jungle, thanks to his consume, he can hyper sustain as well as hyper clear. This lets him level quickly, and stop the enemy jungler from leveling. The only problem with this is that if the team gets smart and wards (with trinkets) in the right spot, you'll always see Nunu coming in. It's pretty much either a free kill, or a burned summoner (which will turn into a free kill the next time he tries).

Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt his strength as a jungler, but when it comes to late game.. he's mostly only good for a consume and smite combo on Baron and Dragon, and E's to slow people down for either chasing or peeling. He's just a little short of a complete champion idea. He doesn't need a big push, but a slight change to tweak his performance to match current champions.

@Hinro Honato: It won't quite be like a Soraka, who was able to safely give chunks of mana. It'll be more along the lines of slightly better team sustain when grouped. Maybe enough to get off a few more spells when need be.

@Azure KayZ: I touched on this earlier.. it's not consistent. Sure, he can poke you down, but there are far superior champions that do that role better. Yes, if you can bait them into an Ultimate, that's all swell, but it's not consistent. You can't just run into a team fight and go, "Hey guys, lemme ult. Gimme a few secs, plz." It's a fun build, I don't disagree, but what I'm stating is to put him in a better position for group play and to make give him a little more viability outside of just being a hyper counter-jungler.

@KagePaladin: I agree. Wholeheartedly.

I'm liking all the responses guys. It allows for this idea to be hashed out, and maybe a dev at Riot can see it, and pitch the idea. I really feel Nunu is just lacking slightly, and a little push in the right direction will put him in his place. More comments please ;D

I feel like 15 flat+10% bonus armor/MR on max W would do a lot more damage reduction on your carries than you think, like with just Spirit Visage his W would be doing more than Aegis for MR. It wouldn't help as much on any other tanks on your team, but to people who don't build armor/MR like carries and assassins just +25-30 armor and MR is a lot, but I don't have as much a problem with this as I do the passive.

The shoving wouldn't matter as much as you think. First the shoving would not be very big since Nunu isn't exactly a power house on auto attacks. He wouldn't have that much of a problem with taking damage since his Q is such a good sustain move and it doesn't kill melee or canon minions at max health so you wouldn't be stealing CS. and in return with the amount of poke you get for it because of all dat mana, any halfway good poking ADC, Ezreal, Cait, Varus etc. you could poke down people so hard it wouldn't even be funny. Even if you got ganked their ADC/Support would be poked super hard and wary of going on/at risk of dying even if they WENT in, and you'd have a speed boost for your ADC AND the slow from E to walk away from the jungler, assuming you have properly placed wards to see them coming.
